Remarks
Being in the list of the oldest Medical colleges around the nation, the college holds recognition from the Medical Council of India and affiliation from Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R Medical University,Guindy,Chennai.My journey as a student has been full of learning, and pleasant experiences at the same time.
Course Curriculum Overview
The holistic.course curriculum has been great and satisfactory. The exams are held once a year but there are practical and various model exams held every month.The University exams are separated into thoery and practical exams which are no doubt tough to get through as an excellent command on the subject is necessary.The months prior to exams had always been hard ane hectic but then the results always had been worth it.
Placement Experience
The college provides various internship opportunities for the students to learn and enhance their clinical knowledge and learning .The posting is done on a regular basis from all the medicine departments which is known as house surgeon /C.R.R.I (Compulsory Residential Rotatory Internship) that lasts for a year with a stipend of INR 20000 per month.This boosts the overall command on the clinical knowledge of the students.
Fee Structure And Facilities
My MBBS course fees was a total of INR 14,660 per year that is a total of around INR 73000 for a full-time 5 years 6 months including tuition fees,University fees ,Library fees etc which i found to be easily affordable in comparison to other college options.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college provides a number of scholarships for the students.The meritorious students are awarded with Merit scholarships and the students from economically weaker sections are provided with numerous scholarships by the college.
Campus Life
The students face no discrimation on any basis .Every student is treated with dignity and equality in college campus.Keeping in mind the various interest areas apart from academics ,there were cultural events and sports meet held on the inter college level named ANASTOMOSIS and the students willingly exhibited their talents in these events. We had Hostel day celebrations,Convocation cermony, Medical Exhibitions, and also batch tours which were full of joy and excitement.
Hostel Facilities
The facilities like separate hostels for boys and girls, sports complex,cafeteria,skill labs etc are add ons to the basic facilities provided by the college.The overall infrastructure is good and the ambience of the college is outstanding.
Admission
Initially,I applied for the NEET UGC Counselling (Tamil Nadu) which is done in two rounds online .My NEET scores were good enough to get me through the selection process and I was shortlisted for reporting in the college for completing all the necessary admission formalities.
Faculty
The faculty is highly qualified and their supervision and support has always been of great help during the years of my graduation.Their subject knowledge , practicing experience and guidance altogether have proved to be extremely beneficial in all these years.
