Course Curriculum Overview

Since the college is affiliated to the university of Calcutta, the syllabus is the same for the many colleges affiliated to the university. The evaluation is very good and fair and the results are also announced on time.

Placement Experience

The college has a dedicated skill development programme for helping prepare for various programs. It is UGC sanctioned and is free and provides coaching in BCS, SSC, Bank, Railway, Primary Teachers Examination, Staff Selection, PSC Clerkship.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees for the bachelors of arts courses is Rs. 6620 per year and for the full course, that is a duration of three years it is Rupees 19,860 Rs. The fees is not very high for the course given the standard of the college.

Campus Life

There are several extra curricular activities organised in the college itself. The male to female ratio is very good. Several sports, and cultural events are also organized. Many different parties such as Freshers party etc. are held.

Admission

The admission for the bachelors in arts(English) is through an entrance exam. The basic eligibility for admission is minimum 60% marks in English in the qualifying exam ie 10+2. The process itself is through online admission.

Faculty

The faculty at Behala College is very good. They are all well qualified professionals who are always at their heels and ready to assist you whenever you require. The professors have all at least cleared NET or SET examinations and most of them have PhD's or are doing their PhD's.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

1. Students generally get eligible for campus placements from the 3rd semester of the M.Sc. course. 2. Deperments like Biotechnology,Botany,Zoology have placement support. 3. Companies coming to campus like TCS,Wipro,Deloitte,Biocon,Pfizer. 4. Deperments with strong placement cells secure 10-15 offers per company, depending on batch size. 5. 8-10LPA Highest package offered by Leading companies and 4-5LPA Average package offered by companies. 6. 60-80% of students getting placements. i am interested in Ph.D. programs for research positions.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

College Life in Behala College

Usually usually in my time that is 2023 call you admission was to be held without any admission test full stop the student must provide respective marks of the class 12 board exams related to the course and feeling the website for each and every college they want to apply. Merit list is created on the basis of the marks code from various students approaching the college is number of seats are left then each student gets occupied filling the seat and getting admission. But recently I have heard that our state minister have organised a new website where a student can apply to all the colleges falling under Calcutta University and other University as well by feeling up one form and applying directly to the various colleges. A merit list is created on the basis of the college list selected and seats allotted to a particular college if the number of seats are finished in a desert college without the student getting a chance the student can sit from mop up round upgradation round. Behala college is the only college in Kolkata having a NAAC grade of A++ because of the huge infrastructure and facilities I did not apply to admission do I got in to other colleges because of this sole reason....Read More
