Life as a medical student

Honestly, college sometimes felt boring but now after completing my PhD I realise that it was so much fun. Not just fun but it also helped us gain so much more. I miss all the amazing faculty there, who were sometimes strict but always cared for us and our better future. All the fully equipped labs helped us do a handful of research effectively. I truly thank my college for what I am today.

This was a 3 year course spread over 6 semesters. The course included theoretical sessions and laboratory visits. The course was obviously high level. We were required to do a research under the guidance of senior faculty. The results were submitted in the form of thesis. The thesis was to be submitted 6 months prior to the exams

Many of my colleagues, including me were hired in reputed institutes. The starting pay was around 8000 INR - 12000 INR and it would increase with experience. A lot of our faculty also helped us getting placements. Many of them even chose to go for further specialisations.

The total fee in our institute was around 40k. I personally found it to be a great deal. When you consider the facilities, course standard and faculty, the fee is very reasonable. There are even institutes out there which charge lakhs of rupees. In comparison to them 40k was not that much of a huge amount.

We often had scheduled free hours which helped us with stress management. We were allowed to play all the sports and with anyone you want irrespective of the gender. Honestly, the female to the male ratio was a little low but we never experienced any criticism or harassment. The college was well disciplined.

I got selected into the course based on my NEET PG medical examination score. I had an MBBS degree with good grades and also one year of professional experience which is required for this course. And hence my interest in Pathology made me apply for this course. After applying for the college, i was called for a counselling round which included two more rounds of Group discussion and Personal interview where my skills and aptitude are tested. Thereafter a merit list was finalised and i got selected.

The faculty was highly qualified and usually were highly experienced. Through out the course, you need to have full focus on the subjects. The faculty were very particular in this case. They were always there for our help.
