My college review (Kalna College)

The [BA] {Hons.} (English) was of three years and we had to choose combination of two different subjects of our choice to study for along with English. The course curriculum consisted of all the core subjects related to English. And as the combination of two subject I had economics and history.

The college do provide with on campus placements opportunities but however not many companies visit for the recruitment of students. Its limited, but if we search for job outside the college the opportunities for Jobs are huge as many of seniors have got placed in valuable companies.

The fees structure of the course Ba English hons. In the college was cost effective. The total fees for three years of course was Rs. 4,200 and scholarships opportunities for students was also available.

Scholarships opportunities were available for meritorious students or for the economically backward students and for the SC/ST also Minority students was eligible for Government Scholarships. There was also a Students Aid Fund managed by the Students union.

Extracurricular activities was encouraged fully here. Many of the students and also I have participated in West Bengal State Inter College Championship and Burdwan District Inter College Sports & Games Championship in which we got the opportunity to represent our college and achieve awards at district or state level.

My admission in the college was merit based for which the list was prepared by the college administration in 12th grade and the basic eligibility criteria for admission for BA (Hons.) (English) was to be qualified with minimum 40% in relevant subjects from a recognised board.

The teachers of my course are really good they are a cluster of well qualified professional teachers who know how to teach us effectively in such a way that we understand everything without feeling the state of boredom and rather stay focused.
