Remarks

The Sir Gurudas Mahavidyalaya is affiliated with the University of Calcutta and accrediated by NAAC. Their main aim is to offer a good education to all the students at an affordable cost. They also help the students to expand their knowledge on social life.

Course Curriculum Overview

We have a total of six semesters under the CBCS pattern. We have general elective papers to choose for the subject combinations. I have chosen History and Education for my UG course on Sanskrit. The college completely follows a strong ICT infrastructure to promote the use of technology and impart a deep knowledge into the students.

Placement Experience

The college has a UGC sponsored career counselling cell which is very active. The co-ordinator of this cell is our faculty Dr.Provas Mondal sir. The cell organizes many guest lectures and invited professional talks to deal with the academics as well as career. We have good companies to conduct drives and give job offers to students.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is framed in such a way to help all the students to step out and pursue higher education. The approximate fee for UG course in Sanskrit is about ?.5,000 per year of study. This will be common for all the BA hons courses.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college helps the economically weak students by giving them merit scholarship and concession in tuition fee. This is done under the act of Student's Aid Fund. Some of the scholarships are Post-Matric Scholarship and Talent Support Stipend.

Campus Life

The college has a NSS wing, grievance redressal cell, sexual harassment prevention cell, anti-ragging cell, still development training. The student union of the college en aires the celebration of sports day, fresher's day, saraswathi pooja, etc. We also have a regular blood donation camp in the college.

Alumni/Alumna

The college has a alumni association. Once you are graduated from the college, you can seek for the alumni application form at the website to get yourself registered into that association. The alumni help us all in guiding us towards the career path.

Admission

The entire process of admission is so simple and is done through online mode. The application form can be found on their website www.sirgurudasmahavidyalaya.com . The eligibility for the UG course is a pass in HSC or equivalent exam with minimum of 50% marks. The selection is through merit ranking.

The department of Sanskrit was established in the year 2009. Earlier it offered only a pass course which then additionally started to offer this Hons course. We have Dr.Provas Mondal sir and Dr.Kajal De mam are great learners of Sanskrit.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Deperments with strong placement cells secure 10-15 offers per company, depending on batch size. 5. 8-10LPA Highest package offered by Leading companies and 4-5LPA Average package offered by companies. 6. 60-80% of students getting placements. i am interested in Ph.D. programs for research positions.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

I choose this college because this college 5 minutes distance from bidhannagar station and my home is in Kakinada with allows me to go in one train and it takes the time about one hour to reach this college.
