The Sourashtra college is a linguistic minority co-ed educational institution. It is affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj university. It is re-accredited with B+ by NAAC. They support unity among students from different communities.

The course curriculum is framed under the CBCS pattern. The practicals invoke a deep knowledge about the theru papers as the subject should have equal weightage to both. There are six semesters in total of three years of study.

The career guidance cell of the college is working under the directions given by the Government of Tamilnadu. The access the aptitude of the students by conducting seminars and workshops. They also provide the needed resources to the students to apply for job enterprises. They send monthly reports to the DCE.

The fee structure is so affordable. This is because the college is a minority institution for the students to get good education. So the fee looks affordable. We have to pay around ?.2,000/- for each year of study. It changes slightly with the advancement in curriculum and practical sessions.

The college offers scholarships and endownments under various schemes. There are more than 20 scholarship schemes and financial assistances. There is also free bus fee and free midday meals to the needy students.

There are about 14 associations in our college like Bhaba physics club, chemistry association, commerce association,etc. There is a students grievance cell to hear the complaints and take action. The campus is filled with the joy of cultural events throughout the year.

The code provides hostel accommodation to the students. There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The rooms are furnished with basic amenities and maintained clean. The food served is healthy and caters to all the needs of the students.

The Sourashtra College Alumni Association was started in 1995. The SCAAN works to connect alumni and support students. They engage the alumni and stay connected with the college. They organize seminars and trainings for placements, help to build infrastructure, etc.

The admission is done through the online portal of the college. The form is found on the website www.sourashtracollege.com . For UG courses, the eligibility is a minimum of 35% marks in HSC or equivalent board exams. The selection is based on the cut off list by ranking.

The department of chemistry has give faculty members. Our HOD sir Yuvarajan is specialized in handling organic chemistry, physical chemistry, applied chemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry. The other staff members are highly talented to teach the chemical science. There are many books at the department library.
