Remarks

The college is excellent in academics and also provides extracurricular events and seminars for a holistic personal development. It is a great place if you want to focus on academics as well as explore other fields of your interest.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is fairly varied and covers almost all major events. It is an excellent choice for someone who wishes to continue further studies in history, or wants to crack competitive exams. There are a total of six semesters with papers in Indian and World History covering time periods from Proto-history to the Modern History of India and the world. There are papers on historical thoughts and events, which is really commendable. The exam structure is semester based and consists of conventional written tests.

Placement Experience

0.5

There are no placement cells in the college, and the college does not provide internships. Unfortunately, BA History Hons is not a course that leads to direct campus placements and therefore the college cannot provide placements.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The college has a very low fee structure which is affordable, and worth much more than it receives. The per semester fee is less than a thousand rupees, and is very little compared to what other colleges charge for the same course.

Fees and Financial Aid

Although the fee structure is affordable for a majority of the students, the college provides full-free and half-free studentship for students who cannot afford it. There are also other scholarships for which you can apply (Kanyashree (K2), Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum-Mean Scholarship, and National Scholarship).

Campus Life

There are extracurricular activities and cultural and sports events all through the year, and seminars on a regular basis. The college publishes its own magazine, and invites contributions from all students. The campus is fairly tolerant of ethnicity, race and religion.

Admission

The BA History Hons program taught in the Raniganj Girls College focuses on introducing you to all the major periods in Indian and World History, of all the three time periods, i.e. ancient, medieval and modern. The admission is strictly on the basis of merit. In the beginning of the academic year, you can fill up the application form and the college publishes a merit list of students selected for admission. If your name appears in the list, you are required to report to the college with the appropriate documentation.

Faculty

4

The faculty is good, well-trained and approachable. There are two professors and the rest are government approved ad-hoc teachers, with good qualifications. There is an interactive environment in the class and the teachers encourage independent thinking.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
