Remarks
Our college is one of the best institutions in Howrah. Even the fee charged for our courses is a petty amount in relation to the quality of education imparted. For me, the best part of the college is the excursions, which is a proper blend of both fun and learning.
Course Curriculum Overview
Our college is worth studying in. Our course curriculum is carefully chosen and thoughtfully organized. B.A Sociology is a 3 year course and gives us an in depth knowledge of social relations, social stratification, social interaction and culture.
Placement Experience
There's a career counseling cell in our college which is highly active. It has introduced many schemes to guide and train us for career oriented services. These schemes include English course, Computer education, training for competitive exams, Super Career fair with IQST etc. In addition, placements are also provided in TCS, ITC, Marriott, Spicejet and Axis Bank.
Fee Structure And Facilities
BKGC is a government aided institution and so the fee structure is pretty liberal. B.A in Sociology costs me Rs. 3113 annually. However the total fees per year is a bit high for the B.Sc and B.Com honours candidates. It costs them about 7-9K annually.
Campus Life
Our faculty members highly motivates us to take part in the different extracurricular activities conducted by our college. We have Sports and Games, NSS and NCC departments which provides ample opportunities to the students to work for their betterment. Moreover, many seminars and workshops are organized by our college head which provides true learning experience to us.
Admission
The minimum eligibility criteria for a candidate to get an admission to BKGC is to secure a passing marks in the 10+2 examination. Our college issues online application form which needs to be duely filled and accordingly a list of selected candidates based on merit is published by our college. I had pretty good marks in my HS exam, especially in Sociology and that's how I was selected.
Faculty
All the faculty members are adequately qualified and knowledgeable. Most of them are PhD scholars and well experienced. Our department teachers are literally the best and they mostly emphasize on practical and research aspect.
