My College Experience

Don't have anything bad about my beloved college.

I took OJEE got rank of 113 CET is the best Govt college in Orissa hence joined it for admission we have to be present in the counselling process conducted by OJEE and get branch as per rank.

Curriculum was great. Its a mix of IIT and Anna university syllabus. In first year everyone has to study the same subjects which are basics like engineering drawing,mechanics,Basic electronics,thermodynamics,physics,chemistry etc.

Companies like wipro,infosys,intel,microsoft provided internship opportunity with stipend of 10-15 thousand per month this included accommodation lodging etc.

First it was TCS which took nearly 50% of total strenght ie nearly 150 package offered 3LPA. Then it was infosys which took 17 students package 2.75LPAWipro took 35 package 3.25 LPA,Microsoft took 1 student package 9 LPA,Mindtree took 5 students package 4.5 LPA many core companies like vedanta,L n T infra simplex also came.

We celebrated all festivals like the pujas etc our annual event was called xtasy which was the biggest in the state at that time with celebrities performing nearly 10 thousand audience used to be present. We had the alumnus meeting,celebration.

Since its a govt college fee was nominal for Computer Science and IT branch tuition fees was Rs 20,000 per year for other branches it was Rs 10,000 per year. Hostel and transport fees was Rs 10,000 per year.

For students who were in top 10% of their branch we used to get scholarship of Rs 5000 per year for students below poverty line tuition fees was free but that was given to only 1 student of every branch.

Campus life was extraordinary. Lots of scope for sports,robotics and other stuffs. We had cultural group sports body,robotics club and many other options to engage and evolve.

Hostel was average but food was good. Normally we had 2 representatives from students side who handled the accounts of mess food. There was lots of scope for sports activities and other extra curricular stuffs.

Exams were a hectic affair with sometimes 2 exams in a single day. We had lab exams and viva after the written tests normally for final year we had to submit 2 projects and one external person used to come to verify our project and take our viva.

Most of the senior faculty were doctorates in their subjects. But lecturers who were temporary were simple B.Tech graduates hence I can say lecturers attend to non branch specific subjects were rookies.
