Sneha's Review On Sengunthar Engineering College, Namakkal

The course is a specialized discipline where the students are given more advanced knowledge about medicine & electronics with the cross disciplinary actions which integrates the biomedical & engineering sciences with clinical practice. The subjects of study are bio signal processing, biomedical instrumentation, radio therapy, medical image processing, processing lab & data acquisition etc with one elective subject in each semester. The course duration is two years divided into four semesters.

Job roles offered to students at my time were Bio-mechanics engineer, Technical writer, Service Engineer, Medical Executive, Bio-materials Engineer, Research scientist, Business manager etc. Highest package offered was 11 lpa and the average was around 5 lpa. Companies such as HCL, IBM, Birlasoft, Titan, Ambalsoft, in-biotech and many more companies visited our institution to recruit a pool of deserving candidates.

Fees for one year is 50,000 which is very affordable and reasonable if compared to the other colleges of the country offering the same course. The grand total for two years comes down to 1 Lakh. Registration and application fees are to be paid separately at the admission counter of the college.

Workshops on topics such as troubleshoot procedures, repair performing, equipment failures with manufacture tech support etc are discussed with their students to provide more insights about the medical industry. National and state festivals such as Holi, Onam celebration, Makarsakranti, Bihu, Diwali, Christmas etc are held at our college so that the students learn the culture of our society more deeply. Sports tournaments are also held at our college.

There are three hostels within the colleges campus for girls, UG and PG students with 800 students accommodation capacity. Here the monthly mess bill is generally calculated at dividing basis. The girls are given permission only when their parents and guardians come to the college. Other facilities provided to us are attached bathrooms, a clinic with a doctor for medical issues, transport facility, two beds, canteen & mess food, water coolers, electricity, a good internet connection etc. I would rate them at 4.5/5.

The students need to have a Bachelors degree from the relevant course from Anna University or any other kind of university which is recognized by equivalent university or the Syndicate of Anna University. Other than that students need to clear a common entranced exam called TAN-CET which is conducted by the state. A merit list will be prepared on the basis of rank and the admission will be granted to you if you clear the cut off of the said course you want to take admission in.

Our teachers are very helpful and supportive and give us useful information related to design devices which are used in different medical procedures. Doubts related to tissue engineering, heath technology, bio mechanics are duly explained in a well manner by the teachers so that we don't face any problems.
