MSW with Auxilium College

I think this was probably the most exciting and rewarding experience of my life. Though I was busy almost every day with so many seminars, workshops and field visits, I am really thankful for them. The professionalism and spirit of caring and active participation I learnt are helping me in my career now.

We were taught a variety of papers that were aimed at introducing us to all the aspects of the still growing social work sector. The major areas of focus were social problems, fields of social work, human growth and personality development, social research work, social policy and social legislation, computer applications, rural and urban community development, human resource and psychiatry and mental health. Apart from these there are other minor areas of study like medical social work, entrepreneurship, etc. There are written and practical tests at the end of all the four semesters.

The place of the department is fairly good. Most of us received placements, including full time jobs and internships at the end of the course. The good thing is that as a part of the program, we were sent to many NGOs, industries and hospitals and medical colleges, and that helped us improve our professional circles.

The fee structure is moderate and affordable. I paid around sixteen thousand for my two year course which is absolutely justified. You can also get a student loan or apply for scholarships. And the fee is not at all on the higher side.

We had regular program and awareness campaigns, along with seminars and workshops every month. These included community based rehabilitation programs, team work and effective communication program, and child right and child protection programs. We also went for field visits to many NGOs and industries.

It is important to be in sync with the current career options and the skills and training they require, and my course delivered all of these and more. For admission, you have to post the application form with all the required documents. If shortlisted for the interviews, you will have to report with your parents along with all the documents. Ace the interview, and you are selected.

Our department has a more relaxed approach compared to conventional teaching. Our teachers were dedicated and approachable. They emphasized the importance of practical training and so with lectures we had regular workshops, conferences, seminars, street plays, case studies, group works and community presentations.
