Anonymous's Review On St. Xavier's College - [SXC], Kolkata

St. Xavier's College has been constantly ranked amongst the topmost colleges in India. Having been established for more than 100 years, this college features some of the best faculty in this country. The placements too are very decent and the course curriculum is very well designed as well.

The curriculum is very well designed. In fact, the college authorities were prompt enough to change the syllabus of "Indirect Taxes" class when GST was implemented in India. Apart from the curriculum, the faculty consists of professors who have immense experience in the field they are teaching. Interactive class sessions made sessions interesting as well as communicative. They also have regular assessments known as CIAs, apart from the main semester examinations. Teachers are available during specified hours for doubt-clearing sessions.

Interned with Miss Chase (Chase Lifestyle Pvt. Ltd.) as a Marketing and Operations Intern. Received a monthly stipend of ?3500. Had applied via mail as mentioned on the Facebook page of our Placement Cell, was subsequently called for an interview and finally selected.

Placements in our college were good for both all the specialisations in the final year. Many well-known companies visited our campus for recruitment. Some of them included Delloite, EY, Axis Bank, McKinsey and so on. Many private sector banks also visit our campus for recruitment. Companies visit the campus starting from August for final year students and continues their visits until the end of the semester. Internships offered are also quite good with companies offering fair stipends to the students. The Placement Cell assists in finding internships and final placements too.

Many events are held throughout the year in the college. The most major event is Xavotsav held in the month of January, organization by the Student's Council. Other events include sports, educational seminars, quizzes, competitions and so on. The Xavier's Commerce Society and the Xavier's Management Society are two major clubs that organise events mainly directed for students of commerce. The ones interested in participating in any event at the college are to get in touch with the respective clubs.

The campus has a huge field where various activities including sports and other events take place. WiFi is present inside the campus upon registration. The library is huge and one can find almost any study material they're looking for. The cyber room also facilitates usage of the computer and internet services for research purposes. The computer lab was very well equipped as well. Classrooms are equipped with projectors for better learning, however desks and chairs in certain classrooms have worn off due to heavy usage over the years. Classrooms aren't air-conditioned. The college has a canteen which offers food at reasonable rates, taste of which could be better.
