Government college, has the adequate infrastructure required for sound medical knowledge. Availability of Cadavers for dissection, well maintained labs. The patients in the OPD are adequate too for proper training and experience. Apart from that, seniors are extremely helpful and there is focus on extra curricular activities too, and helps us nourish our talents. I opted for MBBS, because it was my lifelong dream to be able save lives and help those who are suffering.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is curated with a perfect balance of practical and theory knowledge for a hollistic learning of medical scienc. There is a one month long Foundation course, which eases the beginning of the journey into becoming an Indian Medical Graduate. The faculty is extremely hardworking and help us understand topics through PPTs or videos. The practicals are taken in small groups, such that each student can clear their own concepts. The examinations are held every 3 months (block examination), and are challenging, yet help us finish our syllabus before the first professional examination.
Internships Opportunities
The internship is given for one year by the college itself. The stipend received is 23,000 per month.
Placement Experience
Incase of medical colleges, the next step from MBBS is PG and this is a paid course. Hence the allotment of this is done through a competitive exam NEET-PG. Apart from that, Housestaffship can also be taken up by IMG. Seniors are helpful and will guide through the process.
College Events
Fest- Lobelia, held annually. Along with that, there is a Reunion event which is held every year and is a major event for the first years. The events are extremely big and participation in them allows you to showcase your talent to the world.
Fees and Financial Aid
Kanyashree which is launched by the West bengal government can be availed.The loans maybe available in the banks.
Campus Life
The laboratories are equipped with all the modern technologies and well maintained. The library, situated on the 8th floor, is well stocked with all the latest books as well as having a picturesque view. Washrooms are plenty.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel for the first year is either LH (Ladies Hostel), Maniktala Main boy's hostel, and LM Boy's hostel. The dormitary in LH is a bit unclean and unsanitary with cats roaming about. The washrooms are even more pathetic. And they are less in number as compared to the number of girls residing in them. However, there is food available at all times.
