No. My college is one of the best in India undoubtedly without an iota of mismanagement.
Course Curriculum Overview
It is an excellent course, devised exactly according to national level competitive examinations. It is very easy to crack any Ph.D. level competitive examination if you follow the course diligently. The professors are very skilled and helpful. Overall it has helped me sharpen my skills both in theory and practical subjects. I can do my Ph.D. work better with the training received in college.
Placement Experience
No provision for placements in our stream. Computer Science, Film Studies and Animation department have the provision among others. But due to the rigorous training, most of us end up getting a good employment. Laboratory offers internships. I have availed one internship project from college, other 3 I have done outside college.
College Events
There are plenty. Seminars, cultural events, fests, debates. St. Xavier's College is known for its extravagant events. Prominent personalities are invited to each event. Intra and inter collegiate events are popular among the Kolkata youth. All the events are celebrated in all its glory.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Ours was expensive. Film studies, Animation, Computer Science, Microbiology and Biotechnology offer expensive courses. Others are feasible. I had to pay nearly Rs. 9,500 quarterly back in 2016. Now it has increased to nearly Rs. 15,000 quarterly. But it is definitely worth every penny.
Fees and Financial Aid
No. I have not opted for any scholarship. I had got INSPIRE fellowship but Biotechnology, being an applied and not a basic science field, could not avail it ultimately.
Campus Life
Campus life is vibrant. Gender ratio is more or less equal. Only thing, in commerce course morning they have all boys course and in the evening an all girls course. Campus is strict too. Like you cannot roam around during classes. But overall, it is pleasant.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors are helpful and approachable and not snobby as is otherwise known outside. Everyone is amiable and gives useful advice whenever asked for.
Admission
Admission to this college is tough and requires a high percentage. I go through by Merit List and Counselling processes. It was smooth. Got through in the first list only. Then underwent a face to face counselling session. Got admission on 17th June, 2011.
Faculty
The faculty is one of the best in India. They are extremely efficient, helpful and are literal storehouses of knowledge. They have structured the course very intelligently and have guided us all exceedingly well during the entire course. They have patiently solved our doubts. We did not need any external help outside college to understand the subject matter well.
