Remarks
Quite a waste. Aim is to make money by all means. Nothing surprising for Gujarati management.
Course Curriculum Overview
During those years, emphasis was more on completing the curriculum, instead of imparting knowledge and its application. Students did not ask questions or clarification in the class room for the fear of becoming a laughing stock. No industrial visit was scheduled.
Placement Experience
It is a middle-of-the-Road commercially successful college where graduates are churned out every year without batting an eyelid.
College Events
There were no worthwhile events or festivals during my time. A few events have started much after our college days. One hears of some TV reality show interviews, performances and annual fests these days which keep the college in fashion and gossip limelight.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Less said the better. One hears of ?under the table? six figure amount for non-deserving students getting admission. College accounts deptt. would generally accept cash for all charges earlier but nowadays, there is a bank branch in the same building where fee is paid.
Fees and Financial Aid
No. None whatsoever unless it was a hush- hush affair known only to the insiders but no annual fanfare or a list on the notice board.
Campus Life
Gossiping in canteen or common room with one table tennis table was all that the college provided. The gender ratio was fair with about 30-35% female students. Non-Bengali students were found to be more as compared to the ratio in other city colleges.
Hostel Facilities
No hostel facility is provided. However, there are plenty of establishments and house owners in the vicinity of the college who provide PG or bed and breakfast or even rental premises to be shared by a couple of students.
Alumni/Alumna
There wasn?t much of an interaction with the senior students as this college was only one year old when I took admission in 1969.
Admission
This college was close to my house and had English medium of instructions vis-a-vis others with Bengali medium. I opted for this course since I was a science student in school and wanted to be a doctor. Since I was from a reputed school, I was given admission.
Faculty
Students weren?t keen to assess teaching ability of the faculty, nor did they show any inquisitiveness in finding out the faculty?s background. The college did not have any such prospectus or display material fit to find a place on the notice board which gave faculty credentials.
