Adityendra Tiwari's Review On Hansraj College - [HRC], New Delhi

I wanted to persue higher studies in math discipline and I was looking for an institution that provides me with a teaching staff, that i can look forward to. Some of my seniors at school had also done their graduation from Hansraj College. They informed me regarding the dexterious teaching staff here. I also googled the best colleges for BSc Math H, and was convinced about the stature of this college on seeing it's name at number 3. Finally, I looked at the qualifications of the math department teachers at the college website. Though all the staff had a excess of degrees at their disposal. But two of them caught my attention. One teacher was IITJAM AIR1 holder and another one Mtech from IIT DELHI. This ensured my confidence in this college.

The courses are well structured, nor too heavy to act as burdens but neither too light that doesn't require the students to scratch their head. The syllabus was said to be updated, but i couldn't see much of a difference. The faculty is good. Just like teachers they pay the required attention to make the students understand. But they can at times be busy enough, not to see your whatsapp messages. Our group theory teacher Mr. Sandeep Kumar has been of great inspiration. His dedication towards us deserves this mention.

I'm in second year and due to this covid pandemic, my stay at college has not been for more than 1 and a half semester, so i do not have enough knowledge regarding the placements.

The main event of the college did not take place, however, i was lucky enough to take part in one major fest. I was a part of the mathematics society (Pi) and volunteered in it's annual event. The preparations began before one month and the co-ordination on the part of seniors was commendable. From the activities to be performed, to the bringing of sponsors everything was handled by the seniors. They kept asking for our opinions, though i doubt if they listened to any. The best part was that we did not have to miss any classes as the seniors did their job by seeking permission from teachers not to take class.

I had a bad first hand experience with the sports department. To cut a long story short, they unknowingly gave my college id card to another student and then asked me to write a letter to the principal for seeking another id and i had to pay Rs. 200 for that. I got lucky enough and the student who had got my id, contacted me after 2 days. Setting aside this experience i never had any problem thereafter. The wifi was installed only after the elections were concluded. The library is a hill station, just like my hometown nainital. It was one of my favourate hangout spot. In the math lab the only equipments required were the computers and they were updated after the first semester, hence there was no problem.
