Remarks

A very reputed and respected college in the field of maritime organisations and has a higher cutoff than other marine colleges making it the most elite marine engineering college in the country. Also the alumni base is very strong so jobs are comparatively easier to get here

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum of marine engineering is very varied and most of it was covered to my satisfaction with hands on experience on the various workshops. Academics along with co curriculur activities are given a lot of priority here. The faculty is mostly retired or current seafarers from various parts of the globe so their experience and skills are top notch

Placement Experience

2.5

The job opportunities here varies on the type of students as only academic grades don't promise a job as a seafarer. Almuni networking is amazing though as alumni from this college holds the topmost posts in major shipping companies around the globe and hence this college is held in very high regards while considering for a job

College Events

5

The couple of annual fests are greatly awaited here as the life here is pretty much all about following rules and staying in a presentable fashion as per the demands of the trade. The cultural fest TEMPEST is the biggest maritime fest and attracts a lot of attention from students around the country

Campus Life

Wifi is quite stable at the best and sports are given huge importance here which is evident from the huge playgrounds and swimming pools and the couple of gyms in the 33acre campus. Imu kolkata also boasts of a fairly large library with updated content on the maritime industry. Workshops here are the best part of the campus.

Hostel Facilities

The hostels are not so good in condition and fairly old. But be prepared as hostel Life is compulsory here so you have to adjust with it somehow. Leaks and descaling in the walls are common and the building looks terrifying to even stay at based on the exterior

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.
