R g kar medical college is the first non government medical college of asia. It is situated in kolkata, the capital of west bengal.so transport facillities or other facilities related to study are better. It has secured 1st rank among the medical colleges in eastern india and rank 11th in all india(2017).
Course Curriculum Overview
It is under west bengal university of health science and follows mci guidlines for syllabus. Apart from 4 university exams there are 9 semester and numerous items, class tests through out the course of 4.5 years. Practical laboratories are well standard having most of the laboratory equipments in sufficient number. Moreover teachers,junior doctors, senior doctors are also very helpful. Theory classes are very good and also practical classes. Regarding clinics, from 2nd year students have clinical posting in which students can directly interact with patients.
Placement Experience
After internship many of the students go for pg courses such as md, ms etc.other starts housestaffship in various departments like gynae, ortho, gastro etc.
College Events
Main annual fest of r g kar medical college is lobelia.apart from students many famous artists of mumbai(vishal sekhar, farhan akhtar) and kolkata(anupam roy, iman chakrabarty etc), famous bands like indian ocean perform in this 4 days fest.Another big fest is reunion in the memory of death anniversary of dr.r g kar.saraswati puja is also celebrated in campus and in hostels.
Campus Life
There are various intra college and inter college sports. Beside having a large ground for playing there is a library with student capacity of almost 250 students and with sufdicient books for studying.laboratories having modern lab equipments in suffcient quantity are present.
Hostel Facilities
Hoatel facility is very good. Girls hostel is inside campus and boys hostels (2) are outside the campus.mainly students from places other than kolkata get hostels. Hostel rooms, bathrooms, electricity, drinking water all facilities are excellent.
