Entrance Preview

I got admission in this college through my 12th percentage. There was no entrance exam. I opted for this college because it is the best college in ASIA for Home Science.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The Course Curriculum is such that I enjoyed every bit of it apart from few theory lectures. The practicals taught me the basic necessities of life and how to fulfill it.

Internships Opportunities

Internship is compulsory in the third year of B.Sc and after 1st year of Masters. But this is not provided by the college and the stipend depends on where you do your internship. The faculty though refer the students to different organisations from their contacts and if suits the organisation and the students then the internship starts.

Placement Experience

2.5

The college does not have a placement cell. As far as job opportunities are concerned their are jobs in the market after you do masters in Home Science of course specialized any one stream but the pay is not lavish. Given the market scenario now the pay can be somewhere in the range of 15 k to 40 k depending on your specialization and abilities.

College Events

4

Few major events that are celebrated are Freshers organised by both the faculty of the college and the students union. Students of 1 year are given themes the previous day and the party mostly happens in the evening. Orientation programme for 1st year studentsParents meet organised by the students union where the 1 year students participate and their family members are invited.Founder's Day A celebrity and alumni's are invited on this day. Awards are distributed to best students in various streams and co-curricular activities followed by some cultural programme and lunch snacks Independence day Organised by the college. Cultural Programmes happen on this day and ladoos are distributed. Farewell organised by both the faculty of the college and the students union. Students of 3 year are given themes the previous day and the party mostly happens in the evening. A one day pre-fest event where students savour dance music and food. 3 day Fest Many competitions and jam sessions happen. A celebrity band or singer is invited.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is highly feasible given the college is a govt one.

Fees and Financial Aid

College offers scholarship for students in need. A panel sits in the college and students have to fill a form before hand. The panel interviews the student and based on the needs decide the scholarship.

Campus Life

4

Lady Irwin college is a girls college. The student union provides many opportunities to the students to participate in various events if the student is interested. There is no politics if you do not want to get into one at least prevalent in the college. Students from all backgrounds can be seen roaming freely and chit chatting in the college.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facilities are excellent the food though is not amazingly tasty. The other facilities provided by the hostel are good. Rooms are clean and bathrooms are hygienic. Students are not allowed to go out of campus after 7 and if they reach late then they are fined. Food of the canteen is good it becomes relishing if eaten over gossips and fun with friends.

Alumni/Alumna

There is a Facebook page for the alumni's and every year the college hosts alumni meet in which all the alumni's are invited. On Founders Day the best alumni who is doing pretty well in her life is awarded and acknowledged.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is awesome. Their knowledge of their subjects and their enthusiasm is unbeatable. The faculty is always there to help you in case of any doubts either in life or in the course.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum consists of relatable topics and interesting ones as well this is what quite influenced me to take this course. We have labs which help us learn how to prepare various organic compounds which are used in many day to day products . The course also has a 4th year research program. There should be more equipments in lab for the research. The frequency is good for exams being conducted and there level is also quite good

Placement Experience:

The students become eligible for the placements provided by the college in their 3rd year, while they can pursue internship offered by the college in previous years. Average sized companies visited the campus with lots of students being placed for jobs. The highest package I am not aware of but lowest was of around 300000 pa. I plan to pursue masters after my graduation degree.

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester. I don't know a lot about campus placements but I know that there is a training and placement cell in our college that provides good packages to many students. Some students got more than 7lpa last year. I will be doing my Post graduation after college and will make a career in academics.
