Remarks

Best and most prestigious medical college in the state. Also quite conveniently located, at the heart of Kolkata (well connected by metro). It has a decent patient load which is quintessential in MBBS. The best students of the state come here, which makes the peer pressure conducive for doing better academically.

Course Curriculum Overview

Good overall. Faculty is average to good, but varies from department to department. There is ample clinical exposure and scope for hands-on learning. Support for researchwork at UG level is also satisfactory in most departments.

Placement Experience

Most students prefer to take up postgraduation for specialization after completing MBBS. Nevertheless, there is ample scope for employment in both government and private setup for young passouts with a handsome salary.

College Events

Medical College holds an annual fest called Rhapsody, one of the biggest fests in India with participation from around the city as well as country. In addition, for the last few years, a medfest called Aesculapia has been organized to great effect.

Campus Life

As far as clinical subjects are considered, the equipment is at par with most good colleges, whereas equipment in non-clinical subjects are a bit dated but functional nonetheless. The library is antique and old-fashioned, and service could be improved.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Deperments with strong placement cells secure 10-15 offers per company, depending on batch size. 5. 8-10LPA Highest package offered by Leading companies and 4-5LPA Average package offered by companies. 6. 60-80% of students getting placements. i am interested in Ph.D. programs for research positions.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
