Firstly the institute here(National institute of technology silchar) has good infrastructure as well as good academic record. The institute has grabbed in top 10 among 31 nits. there are good number of placments recorded so far. the institute is spread across 670 acres surrounded by lakes.
Course Curriculum Overview
I'm from Electronics and Communication Engineering dept. and our course curriculum was modified and updated every now and then. fauculty members are well qualified and experienced. Mostly there friendly with students. faculty members also stay inside the campus so that they are available for us all the time. they treat us like their family members and that depends on our sicerity. from over department all the faculty members are like the same I have mentioned. namely Dr Wasim Arif sir, Dr Devendra gurujar sir, Bijith chowdary sir, anupal deka sir and many more.
Placement Experience
NIT Silchar is ranked 51st best engineering college of India and 9th among 31 NITs in 2019 by National Institutional Ranking Framework, Human Resource Development, Government of India. It is also ranked 2 nd best engineering college in the North Eastern region of India after IIT Guwahati by National Institutional Ranking Framework. We had the privilege to host more than 100 companies in 2019-20 session. The Industry Institute linkage is getting cemented over the years. The courses are regularly restructured to meet the ever-changing industry requirement. Our students have unremittingly been able to display excellent potential and skill in their fields of academics and extra-curricular activities. Many of the students are currently working on the sponsored and consultancy projects (218 + in number and worth more than 3. 5 cores) that the Institute has received in 2018-19. The technical class we are training today will be the problem solvers and visionaries of tomorrow. We strongly believe that our younger generation can take the country out of the current situation to scale new heights. It will be a great privilege for us to welcome you at the NIT Silchar.
College Events
The college has gained immense popularity over the whole north east region with its extravagant cultural fest which is called Incandescence. It is a four day fest which provides a platform to showcase the talents of students from NIT or from any other institutions. Popular artists from Bollywood or sometimes International celebrities grace the place of main attraction in this fest. Audience as well as participants from all over the country take part in this immense showdown. Amidst the tedious academic routine, it gives students a chance to rejuvenate with energy and enthusiasm. Apart from this, a technical fest called Tecnoesis is organised by the Gymkhana. Like Incandescence, it also provides a great competitive spirit among the crowds from all over the country. The last day of this four day long program is the cultural night where landmark DJs or Musicians are invited to please the audience.
Campus Life
The nature of the surrounding gives an aura of freshness to all the inhabitants of the campus. The campus is surrounded by several lakes and Large trees. The campus infrastructure is appreciable. Most of the old buildings are renowed. All the dept buildings have been there for a long period and some of them needs renovation. The authority does renovation works but it needs more efforts in this regard. Regarding sports facilities, our college has 2 grounds for outdoor sports like Cricket, Football etc. In addition to this, there is a huge sports complex which is home to all the indoor sport activities and some cultural meet also. College provides free Wifi facility where speed of connection is decent.
