Let's have a look what is going on inside NIT Silchar

In the course in first year all students have same courses irrespective of their branch all students have subjects of each branch like physics, chemistry, Engineering graphics Design, Conputer science ,English, Basic electronics, Mathematics,Basic Electrical engineering ,Mechanics and mechanical workshop with labs for different subjects. From 2 nd year students have their departmental subjects as I am from ECE I got analog electronics digital electronics ,analog communications ,digital communication,signal and system,power electronics , microprocessor and micro controller, RF and microwave ,VLSI , Machine Learning, Digital signal processing, Digital image processing,optical properties of devices, wireless communication, wireless sensor network, Data communication, computer networking,Data structures and algorithms etc in the whole 3 years electronics and communication engineering course . I think among all these subjects some are for core electronics,some for communication and some for Machine learning and neural networks, robotic oriented. But if they decide students According to their own choosed sector it would be more beneficial to focus on future career point of view. From first year to 3rd year students have 6 subject theory exams and 3 labs before theory started in each semester,in 4th year students have only 4 Theory subjects ,one internship presentation and one final year project. Mid semester exams held in middle of the semester and endsem in the end of semester. mid sem helds for 2 hour and endsem for 3 hour duration.

In our college NIT Silchar there are internship opportunities on research intern under guidance of faculty. If the project faculty is giving in internship is funded then students get a small amount monthly . Otherwise in summer internship for 3 rd year students there is an SN Bose internship opportunity which is under any faculty guidance and it's non paid .After completing the internship students should submit a report of their work with the final project to the faculty and get certificate . Internship presentation have a credit in 7 th semester so it's necessary to do summer internship after 3rd year completes.

From 5th sem students are allowed to participate in oncampus summar internship and from. 7th semester starting they are allowed for 6 month internship and Full time roles . There is a Training and placement Cell in our college there are some heads of this cell they are senior professors and it have final year students in senior coordinator position and 3 rd year study as probationary. Students bring the companies which fulfills the criteria of TNP cell and each company have their own eligibility criteria and selection procedure. Mostly companies allows 6 cgpa without any active backlog students . But some high paying companies requires 7 or more cgpa . In 3rd year Cisco , microsoft, public sapiens, Tech Mahindra, Accenture ,Oracle and many more companies visited in our campus and hired good amounts of students for summer internship and mostly offers full time role as ppo to students. In 4th year a lots of company like Novartis, amazon, flipkart,aditya birla, Cisco , Deloitte, oracle,ukg, Motorola, siemens , IBM and many more startups visited college and hired .Some paid 15+ CTC and some 6 to 10 CTC . Almost 40% of students are placed till December this year from each branch . Personally I'm planning for taking chances to get an online internship and then try to go for higher studies abroad in automation and robotics.

In. First year from admission first we have to pay the tution fees with 5 thousand jossa fees 75000 rs then before taking the hostel we should pay the 24500rs hostel fee . If student don't have family income less than 5laks he or she don't get refund but if they have below 5laks rs family income certificate then they will get a refund of almost 25000 rs and if student have below 1 lakhs income he or she will get almost 50000 refund before the end of the whole semester. For students of 2 nd ,3rd and 4th year btech course should pay the same amount like l mentioned before for freshers they have to pay 70k tution fee+24500 mess fees each semester registration if student don't come under below 5laks income or 1 lakhs income. Below 5 lakhs income students have to pay 38000tution fee+24500 mess fees and below 1 lakhs students pay 8000 tution fees +24500 mess fees.

In our college annual technical fest Tecniesis celebrated in end of odd semester and annual cultural fest Incandescence celebrated in the starting of even semester. In the tech fest robotics club of nits helds some tech competition like robotrin ,robosoccer, rat in a maze etc. And the Tecniesis council helds NITS hacks and many game competitions and many more at the end day spark night sone popular music bands or reputed singers are invited for the night and dj nights also . In Incandescence al lot of cultural events held by all clubs . Music club conducts music fest photography club conducts photo gallerio ,dance club, act club and art club all clubs have different events and each night in Incandescence some popular musician or music band with dj invited and comedians also comes to entertain. Almost the events go good in their community holds it perfactly without corruption. In sports nit Silchar have 2 large playgrounds with stadium and indoor sports complex as well . In inter nit competition NIT Silchar encourages students to participate and win prizes.

In first year girls are provided 3 seater big room room condition are good . Then in 2 nd year hostel changed from gh3 to gh1 and are given 4 seater room the 2 nd year is pathetic to stay in hostel for girls then in 3 rd year they provided 2 seater and 3 seater rooms thoose are good rooms and in 4th year while batch is given 2 seater rooms in gh2 these rooms are also good. Every day except Sunday working ladies comes to clean floors and bathrooms there are washing machines also but students have to pay for it. Local pgs are not good and safe for students so it's better to stay in campus.

In jee mains examination I got 92 percentile and my obc rank was 22000 and my general rank was around 60000 . So I was not able to get selected in other better NITs for my BTech course . As top colleges requires top 1 percent students of jee mains and in jee advanced my score was not good to get any IITs so as I my home state is Assam and for home State quota and female students NIT Silchar have quota so I easily got Electronics and Communication Engineering branch in this college. I applied for NIT Trichy ,NIT karnataka and NIT Durgapur also and also applied for IIIT s but didn't get any of them . In my college NIT Silchar ,the admission process completes by jossa and CSAB . After jee mains result students who got qualified are eligible to participate in Jossa counselling and then according to each years score jossa does the process of giving the selected branch and college among the choices students registered. If students are not getting college by jossa then they can participate in CSAB and through CSAB they got selected colleges of eligible .

There are sufficient faculty in all branches according to students ratio. Girls boys ratio is very less.In case of professor student engagement mostly professors are not friendly to approach they are very egoistic and show the student down all the time and never appreciate students efforts for building anything. Some Professors are good , friendly they give students opportunity for projects, research and other academic programs.For example Hod of Electronics and Communication Engineering department Dr Kaushik Guha sir isa very fry person and always brings academic events for students skill improvement .He use to communicate with students for their academic problems. And in the same campus another Hod of Mechanical engineering department Dr Halder is a very rude and selfish person with a very downward personality.If a person go to his cabin he or she cannot enter from the cigerette smokes firstly and even the student enters he uses abusive words slangs to that student and throw him or her out by insulting and humiliating then he focus on the student as his Target to destroy his or her career by pulling their subjects backlog . There are total 2 main exams one is mid semester of 30 marks and another is end semester of 50 marks and a minor exam of 10 marks in each semester.students have to score 35 for passing each subjects

There is no good gym in the campus or outside the campus for regular use. Inside the campus there is one but equipment and environment of the gym is not good . There are hostel canteens attached to each hostel mostly are open from morning 10 to night 10. And also there is a common NITS cafe which is open from Monday to Saturday in day time . And there's a small market inside the campus called FPS where students can get their regular necessary products . And T point shop where at evening students go to drink tea and coffee and other snacs but these are only open from morning 10 to night 9 only . Hostels infrastructure is not very good these are old architectured but can be lived . Students have to use common washrooms .water facility is good .when a semester starting foods are good in hostel mess then it starts degrad and end of the semester food gets not edible
