Remarks
It is one of the best and renowned colleges in the city and I being a resident of Kolkata, chose the college without any hesitation as it was convenient for me in terms of communication. Located in a posh area at the heart of the city, it is easily accessible from any part. What I like the most about the college is that it provides an education-friendly campus and gives ample opportunities for the students to explore their fields of interest. I was always interested in biology and as a result, opted microbiology as a subject. The faculty are really good and are always ready to help the students. The laboratories are also equipped with advanced and sophisticated equipments.
Course Curriculum Overview
Microbiology as a course is very promising and provides sufficient exposures to both industries and research. The syllabus is very much up to date in accordance with UGC syllabi. The faculty is very helpful.
Placement Experience
The college has a Placement Cell, which provides sufficient opportunity to deserving candidates for getting placed in good companies. Also, there is an Entrepreneurship Development Cell which guides students who are interested in doing start-ups.
College Events
Above all, the greatest attraction of the college is the Green Benches which is a popular place for students to chill out besides the canteens. Often, students spend their off periods in the Green Benches chatting with friends or jamming together with guitars or other musical instruments. The greatest attraction of Xavier's is none but Xavotsav, one of the most well-known college fests. It is a grand gala with 3 days long of enjoyment and entertainment. Lights, decorations, stage, banners, food stalls. All add a different vibe to the regular college life. Those 3 days are the most awaited days of the year for every Xaverian.
Campus Life
The college has a large field for playing football, cricket, hockey etc. There is also a separate room for indoor games like carrom, table tennis and chess. Apart from that, there are other cultural clubs like literary societies, debate society, dance and music association (XADAM) and so on. The campus is wifi enabled. There are two big libraries namely the Goethals Library and Fr. Verstraeten Central Library with an enormous collection of books. The students can access the libraries any time for reference studies. There is provision of both reading area and borrowing books. Laboratories are also well-equipped with advanced and sophisticated state-of-the-art equipments.
