The CET BBSR overview.

The college is near the center of Bhubaneswar, unlike other engineering institutions that are situated very distantly in urban areas. The campus is good enough to cater to the needs of engineering students. The admission process through jee main was easy and without any hurdles. The admission date was around 10-12 th of August and courses started from September 7 after a 2-week induction program. You can visit www.cet.edu.in for more info. There is completely no ragging inside the campus and for more safety, the freshers are given a hostel just outside the campus but very near to it.

I was interested in physics during my school and was also referred by a senior to get into mechanical engineering. Since also the campus placement is decent, I choose it. The first years all have the same course in the first and second semester. Then after they get to learn their own branch subjects. Teachers are almost available for all classes needed. Faculties are almost all Ph.D. (s), and are recruited through state entrance. While college is autonomous and has the power to recruit contractual staff to cater to needs.

There are regular offers for paid and free internships with stipends for almost all courses. These are either provided by college sponsored companies or outside ones. You will have to do at least 2 of them during the 4 years. I was teamed up with 2 others on a project of advanced printing technology by TATA.

Placements come throughout the 4th year. The CSE and IT companies provide a lot of better packages and job placements than the core ones. But there are good core companies like Godrej, Tata, Maruti Suzuki that offer good packages. Sadly only 30-40%students get placed in the in-campus placements. I will prefer to do m.tech after getting the degree. The average package is around 7 lakhs while last year the highest package was around 22 lakhs.

Since it is a govt. funded institute, fees are really less. You only have to pay a 16,000+5000 hostel admission charge every semester which is too less compared to any private engineering college. And fees are hiked according to the institute's committee recommendations and generally happen every 2-3 years. There is multiple govt. and public scholarships available throughout the 4- year courses which are almost based on merit and sometimes on economical status. The campus placement is decent with jobs varying from as low as 4,50,000 to 22,00000 per annum.

The first year boys hostel is just outside the college campus to avoid any issues of ragging. There are two boys and two girls hostel respectively. The hostels are run together by college authority and Students to manage it better. The meal is decent and the catering services are changed if students aren't happy with the food. The rooms are cleaned by sweepers and the bathrooms are well maintained. There are 2 and three-membered rooms in each hostel. And if you couldn't get a seat in the boy's hostel unlike girls one where they have seats in plenty, there are many PGs just outside the hostel to help you out. You will get unlimited super speed wifi too in the hostel.

The admission is through Jee Main all India test and everyone knows how it is done. Almost studying the 11-12 th school course can get you good marks.
