Remarks
I love my college as the way it is, wouldn't change it for anything in the world.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is followed such that it enables us to understand the basics and have a great foundation so as to enlarge our learning curve in the future. It is very relevant to modern times, a part of it is focused on research and it can be categorized as fair. The learning basically provides a help in introducing us to the vast world of technology and profeesional work place mannerisms but like any other guider, it's job is to only guide and rest is left completely up to us. On-campus placements are provided on how we apply various skills we have learnt and for this very exposure, industrial visits to offices of Mapro, Volkswagen were organised.
Placement Experience
I availed an internship from Tech Mahindra through the college initiative. Placements however are a different ball game altogether as they require the availability of the candidate to have 0 inactive backlogs and most of them are skill-oriented as opposed to mark-oriented. The companies that approach our college include Samsung, Microsoft and Tech Mahindra just to name a few. The institute does give tips to students from time to time on how to approach these companies.
College Events
The different events are i) Reverb ii) Prota iii) Techfest I have taken part and represented my branch's Volleyball and Basketball teams in Prota three years in a row earning 1 bronze medal and 2 silver medals along with 2 overall championships. Apart from that I have also been a cultural secretary for the Techfest event organised in 2019. I was also logistics head for Reverb event organised in 2019
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee for 1 year is around 2.5 lakhs. This amount varies differently for other students from different quotas. The college does not provide transparency in fee-breakdown. The mode of payment accepted by the college is mostly either through net banking or DD.
Fees and Financial Aid
I have never applied for any scholarship or education loan. the college does offer scholarships to academic prodigy's and sportsperson's who have atleast played till the National Level.
Campus Life
Campus life constitutes of the right amount of vibrancy, diversity and humbleness. There do exists cultural societies and dorm parties do take place. I as student that was new to India and it's ways, have never been looked down upon and the feeling of a giant family is always present. The gender ratio in my branch is pretty much 50-50. As far as the college is concerned, i'd say its a good 40-60 ratio with the 40% representing the girls. My college is extremely tolerant with respect to religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc. No one is discriminated against based on above mentioned aspects.
Alumni/Alumna
My college seniors were surely helpful as to giving us the in's and out's of the whole course and their support is always appreciated. The alumni network also keeps in contact with us and they also organise seminars from time to time in order to impart knowledge and wisdom.
Admission
I was earlier classed into the pool of NRI students as I had completed my 10th and 12th graduation from abroad. I however did not want to register as an NRI student and wrote the MH-CET which is the state entrance exam and the field under which I chose it was engineering. I managed to attain a good rank and get admission into my required branch and field at Symbiosis Institute of Technology. I attempted the MH-CET exam some time around the beginning of May. I chose the course of Electronics and Telecommunication as it particularly interested me and the main interest in Symbiosis was generated through the fact that one of my cousins had studied there and overall I had heard a lot about Symbiosis especially in the Pune circle. The steps required in this process were i) Application through the Symbiosis Admission Portal ii) Attachment of all relevant documents for verification iii) A counselling session in which all the ranked candidates where invited and offered seats iv) A final verification and admission confirmation
Faculty
The faculty is very well qualified and most of them even pursue their Ph.D degree's while working as teachers. The average age would be around 45 years old. Many of the lecturers actually clear doubts really well and are open to helping students out academically. Most of the lecturers hold industry experience and certifications which enables them to weigh in on both the theoretical and practical aspects of a particular subject.
