Oldest Private Engineering College in West Bengal

One of the main drawback is that it is very far from Kolkata city. Distance is 140 km and it usually takes 3-4 hours through bus or train.

I took WBJEE and secured 36185 rank. Thereafter i was getting other colleges also but i have selected Haldia Institute of Technology as it is oldest private engg. college in WB. It has good placement and 15:1 student teacher ratio. It has a campus of 49 acres with 12 btech branches and 5 mtech branches with more then 5k students.

College faculties are producing number of research papers for national and international journals. Moreover, no. of workshops and seminars are conducted on a regular basis. Apart from syllabus faculties always guide us to read other books, journals, references for having better knowledge of the subject. They also teach about future aspect and about exams such as gate,cat,mat etc.

College provides internship to students of 3rd and 4th year. And about stipend I dont know. Since haldia is industrial area or we can say hub of industries over more then two hundred companies. So its a easy option available for hit haldia to provide internships. Moreover many of them are also send to different places of India according to their wish or branch.

Last year i.e., 2016 college gave a placement record of 80.2%. Companies like infosys, tcs, wipro, tech mahindra were the main recruiters who have took more 50% of students. Recently in 2017 batch, companies like Wipro, Infosys, tech mahindra visited the colleges and nearly 400 students are placed since this is start of the placement season, so many companies are still to visit.

College Technical fest (Prayukti), College fest(Riviera), Armagedon. Participants from West Bengal and also from different parts of India to participate in colleges technical fest. College groups such as HIT Times, Hitian Inside, Jigyasa etc are conducting aptitude test, quiz, puzzles, short movies competition throughout the year and rewarded. As other colleges, all the other important days such as independence day,republic day, teacher day,environment day etc is celebrated.

I think it is feasible i.e., 4.2 lakhs of full course. That is approximate fifty one thousand per semester. Even now NIT fees is one lakh twenty five thousand rupees for a year. In this fees even hostel fees is included i.e(rs 39000-college fees+ rs 12000-hostel). Also the syllabus books is also issued to individual student for six month.

Tuition Fee Waiver(TFW) facility for economically backward students. Student who tops the inter branch semester, a sum of rs twenty five thousand is also awarded. Loan papers,documents is easily accessible from college offices.

It has gender ratio of 70:30.Number of workshops,seminars of aeromodeling, hacking,programming,robotics etc are conducted round the year. Every year inter branch cricket,football tournaments are held and sports week. It has lab of every subject with updates machines.

It has 14 boys hostel and 4 girls hostel with good mess. All the hostel are clean and with good environment. 2 sitter,3 sitter and 4 sitter hostel is there. Rooms are good enough even for 4 students with bed,table,chair,almirah are available. We have to pay 2k per month for hostel and 3rd and 4th year students have to give 7200 for whole semester ie very less I think.

Every Year 'PhireDekha' fest is celebrated for alumni and number of programmes,competitions and stalls are setup. Even alumni network is established to connect all the ex-students.

Semester wise exams are conducted as per MAKAUT norms and two centralized mid-sem is conducted. Before the theory paper laboratory exam is conducted. MAKAUT invigilator visit college during sem exam to conduct exam in proper manner. If anyone is found doing some cheating, they are directly expelled from the exam.

HIT haldia had a renowned faculties from IIT,NIT and Jadavpur University. They are always ready to help students even in weekends and also over phones. They always encourage us to take part in techfest and other competitions of different institutes. And are always available to help in any of our projects.
