Remarks

I never really had anything to complain and most of the things are quite organized and balanced.

Entrance Preview

IIT JEE. Score is around 280. Rank is AIR 876. I am quite interested in Computer science and luckily got CSE in IIT Kharagpur for my score.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Course curriculum is really good. It has covered most of the basic fields of Computer science. May not be more of a research oriented but it did cover all the basics and we always have the option to pick up independent projects under the guidance of the profs. I think the curriculum is such a way that it gives a glimpse of all the fields and it provides enough data to decide upon what to work in future based on our interests.

Internships Opportunities

It does provide an option for other companies to hire interns. The process is more like campus placements. College administration make sure most of the students get interns in companies. If people fail to get any company intern, they always have an option to do a academics project under a prof with proper stipend.

Placement Experience

5

Placement season is a bit hectic. Everyone tries their best to make sure all the students are placed. The committee has strict rules on the do's and dont's and if someone fails to follow are generally excluded from further opportunities. It was a bit hectic because lot of companies come at the same time during the start of the december and there will be lot of written tests conducted by each company and sometimes the tests will be conducted late in the night around 1AM as well. It used to be a bit difficult for the students to cope up with the busy schedule.

College Events

4.5

We used to have two major fests apart from huge number of societies and co-curricular activities. Kshitij is the one of the biggest tech fest in India and lot of students used to come from different places to compete. It was quite exciting to see lot of tech events happening.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee used to be below par compared to private colleges and there used to be SBI loans if some student faces any financial troubles. Fee is collected per semester. But i think fees became more than four fold now. I guess it is necessary for the college to function.

Fees and Financial Aid

SBI provides education loans to all the students and there is nothing to worry about financially. There are lot of scholarships that are offered for all the students. Especially for SC/ST students.

Campus Life

5

Gender ratio is quite pathetic but nothing much can be done because students can enter only based on merit and believe that is how things should be. There are interhall events that happen round the year. Lot of societies to indulge in various activities. Lot of facilities to practice any sport. And people take the competitions quite seriously and put in lot of efforts.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel life is really good. There is everything that is required and most of the operations and fund management are handled by Students. The lifestyle is quite lively with people practicing competitively for the inter hall all the time and lot of other events happening. Mess food may not be the best but it is sufficient to survive.

Alumni/Alumna

People from KGP are there everywhere. I have worked with 2-3 people at least in all the companies i worked for. It is good have people from the same background. There will always be lot of mutual friends irrespective of the year of graduation.

Exam Structure

We used to have midsem and endsem exams which decides on the final grades. Also the lab performance and attendance also contribute to the final grade based on prof's decision. It is kind of rat race to achieve good grades but that is the case everywhere and nothing much can be done.

Admission

I have attempted JEE in 2009 and scored 280. I had two years of preparation at Sri chaitanya prior which i was not even aware of JEE. Not completely sure about the process involved but i believe around 6 months before the test, we submitted the required documents and post the results, there was a counselling session happened at IITM where we are supposed to provide a list of interested branches and colleges. Based on the rank, we are allotted the college according to the priority.

Faculty

5

Faculty is above par in terms of knowledge and experience. We did not really had any issue with the faculty at any point of time. They were quite strict about the attendance but that is all for good. They made sure the sessions are interactive and the faculty is quite interested in the Q/A. People used to take the core courses seriously and it was really good learning for all the students.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
