Haldia Institute of Technology, BE, Instrumentation & Control Engineering

Remarks

Only the bad thing or I can say disadvantage is that it is very far from main city i.e., Kolkata( approximately 140KM), it is only thing where the college lags. Normally, it takes three to four hours when you take a bus or train.

Entrance Preview

I took WBJEE to get admission. You can also take JEE MAIN for it. In WBJEE, I secured 36185 and filled my choices and after counselling, I was alloted Instrumentation&Control Engineering in HIT Haldia.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

HIT Haldia is affiliated to MAKAUT(Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University),Kolkata. So there by it follows MAAKUT syllabus and curriculum. I have matched my syllabus with NIT, it is almost similar. I have completed three semester yet far and made one working plane, quadcopter and a robot so far with the help of my syllabus. So you can determined. I can say that syllabus is excellent and based on future aspect.

Internships Opportunities

Yes it provide internship to third and fourth year students. Since Haldia is surrounded by more then two hundred industries i.e., we can say a hub of industries. Many students are placed in nearby industry and some are send outside the city. Sorry to say that I dont know stipend.

Placement Experience

4

According to 2015 report, placement percentage was 80.3%. This year placement has been started. Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra are the first companies to visit college. Yet number of companies are to come. This year around three hundred students are placed so far and college is hoping for 100% placement.

College Events

4.5

College technical fest( Prayukti ), college fest (riviera), armagedon, phirdekha(for alumni) etc are celebrated apart from normal celebrations such as independence day, republic day, environment day etc. Moreover, different groups in college such as HIT Times, HITain Inside, Jigyasa etc conducts technical also non-technical round the year to keeps students up to date.

Fee Structure And Facilities

HIT Haldia semester fees is fifty one thousand rupees including hostel fees i.e Rs.-39000(College fees)+ Rs.-12000(Hostel fees). So in a year, it is charging one lakh two thousand rupees only whereas if you compare with NIT's it is one lakh twenty five thousand rupees for one year. I can say that it is very cheap and affordable. Even in the above fees book charge is included, we are being provided whole semester books for six months of all the subjects.

Fees and Financial Aid

Financially weak students are having the facility of TFW (Tuition Fee Waiver) where the students are charged very less. Moreover, institute is also giving twenty five thousand rupess who tops the inter branch semester examination.

Campus Life

4

As you know, Haldia is situated near the sea side so you can estimate wht will be climate. Gender ratio is 70:30 (not sure). College has a massive campus of fourty nine acres which is comprising of all the facilities. Cricket, football, volleyball, basketball tournaments are held every year amoung all the branches. And the other sports are held in the month of January as sports week. Laboraties are good. Aeromodelling, Hacking, Programing, Robotics events, workshops, seminars are conducted throughout the year.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostel facilities and mess are quite good enough. It is having four seator, three seator, two seator rooms available. Rooms are big enough for four students and a bed, mattress, pillow, chair, table, almirah are provided by the hostel. Every floor is installed with RO+UV purifiers.Veg and non-veg foods are prepared every day, it depends on us what to eat.

Alumni/Alumna

College is very much focused to keep the contact of its alumni. It organises 'PhirDekha' every year to faciliate its past students. Every year alumni from all parts of India comes to attain the programme and number of cultural programmes and competitions are held.

Exam Structure

According to MAKAUT curriculum, two semesters are conducted in a year and two mid sem exam in a semester. Examination is conducted under MAKUAT invigilator so there is no chances of any illegal things. Laboratory exam is also conducted under MAKAUT invigilator. Two faculties are send during exam in a class to conduct exam in a positive manner.

Admission

First of all I filled WBJEE entrance examination form in the month of November then received admit card for the entrance in the month of February. In the month of May, I seated for the exam and result was announced in the month of June and thereafter three round counselling was done with our choices filled. And after allocation, I took admission in the month July. Classes was started from August 1.

Faculty

4

Almost all the faculties of HIT Haldia are passed out from IIT,Jadavpur and NIT. So there is no doubt on their capability. It has around two hundred fifty faculties of teacher student ratio of 15:1. They always encourage us to attain maximum classes and completes syllabus since questions come from university, any how we have to complete. They even help students over phone and during weekends too since maximum faculties resides inside college campus in faculty hostel.

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
