Entrance Preview

I have appeared for Kerala Engineering entrance examination for 2005 admission. There were no interview for admission.

Placement Experience

4.5

For placement through campus placement this college was best. Almost 90 % of the students were got placed at my time. By the end of 3rd year most of my classmates got job assurance. But very few core companies for ECE visited our campus.

College Events

Every year final year students from different branches conduct different cultural cum tech fest. We ECE students conducted a tech cum cultural fest at kanakakunnu, Trivandrum on final year ie 2009. The name of the program was Nirvaan 09. Student from others colleges and other branches were also invited for the program.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a merit student I have to pay only 6000/- per year. It was indeed very cheap.

Alumni/Alumna

Recently I got invitation from Alumni. But I never got chance to participate any event a organised by Alumni. But from photos published in facebook.

Exam Structure

Like all other B.tech graduate we have very tight exam and lab schedule. We have to clear 54 papers to clear to complete the course. For each paper we have 2 internal exams and one university exam.

Admission

I got a rank of 1089 and Centralised Admission Process (CAP). I got admission to SCT in merit seat. I was second one who opted this college. At that time SCT was the best college in Trivandrum after CET. So I have no second thoughts. Also most of my friends joined this college.

Faculty

About faculty I have mixed opinion. Only 50% of lectures were permanent and all others aware guest lectures. The college lacked Professors with PhD. Most of the lectures B.tech. In kerala engineering focus is mainly given for job than a research.For student who is aspiring for good mark and Campus placement these lecturers were enough.

Placement Experience:

we are eligible for placement from the 7th sem. Many famous and small compines vist our college. Infosys, WIPRO, TCS vist our college. But the big companies take only few student. Highest package was 1,00,000. And the average package is around 4,00,000. Almost all students gets placed from the campus .

My Experience at NIT Calicut

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance.The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies.The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.

Is engineering here worth it?

Companies such as nissan,infosys,commandtech,bimlabs,gulfasia etc has visited . And the highest package was 11 LPA and lowest was 3 LPA

I choose this college because it has vibrant campus life and freedom.It also has good placement records,good pass percentage. I also took due to distance advantage.This college also has good faculty, teaching. Although the campus is small, the infrastructure is well maintained. It has well structured labs.I also looked for cet, Trivandrum but I didn't get it because of my keam rank. The exam accepted for the course is keam and most of the students prefer it. A look inside Sct - Campus life, Academics and more

The main reason I chose this college was because this as under the Government of Kerala. It is held jointly by both government and ksrtc. This the standard of teachers will be better than other private colleges and campus life would be better as well. I have gotten confirmed admission from Amritha University and FISAT. I chose Sct because of the above given reason and also because of its location in trivandrum. I had applied to both Cet and Gect but I didn't pass the cutoff. The admission price for SCTCE is through KEAM which is held by the government of Kerala.
