Remarks

The college is good as I put up on the heading Decent college studies nice crowd with willingness to study some fun good faculty.

Entrance Preview

I got admission in fyjc after passing out my SSC exam. Selection was purely on merit basis. After getting 78% in SSC I got admission in final list. That was way back in 1993.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

My subjects were as per the norms of Mumbai university so there was no my own choice. First year physics chemistry botany zoology maths all were there. Additionally there were foundation course subjects also as the years progressed the subjects started decreasing. So on final year my subject was chemistry only but it had all branches of chemistry, analytical, physical organic, inorganic.

Internships Opportunities

Internship was not there for this bachelor course. However job opening were put up on notice board for freshers. So fresh graduates can apply for the opening.

Placement Experience

1.5

Placements was not offered by college although we were sent for interview to elly lilly pharma company for interviews but only 3 candidates were able to crack the interviews but as time moved on I started appearing interviews in local companies. Soon I was also able to get job after six months as trainee chemist.

College Events

3

Lot of cultural social educational events were organised in college participation was on voluntary basis. Few of my friends joined social activities in the vicinity of the college some joined the cultural programs, drama, enactment some students joined debates. By the way debates were regularly held.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees structure was very low anyone can afford to study actually since it is Mumbai board college the fees slab is decided by university the management is also appointed by the local government studies is subsided unlike private college were fees are very high.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are given by the board and university so 1 can approach the university also for basic course not much loan will be required but for advanced course nowadays loan facility is available in all colleges.

Campus Life

3

Students were decent and good crowd was good no high profile standard are required average people colleges. I liked the atmosphere gender ratio was almost equal. Canteen washrooms were clean all race people were there no bias lot of extra activities were held in college from debate to annual days all were exciting.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel faculty is not there but since the college is in of Mumbai city lot of PG accommodation are available nearby. Nowadays rentals are very high in Mumbai city so very difficult to afford. Food is not a issue at all in Mumbai city. You will find many eateries in the city also you will find lot of option for tiff-in services also.

Alumni/Alumna

Yearly meeting of our batch alumni is half actually we ourselves organised the program yearly and share our experiences i make a note of the event that I can put in the alumni meet.

Exam Structure

Exams were taken as per university norms at the end of the year the exams were held and it was very normal no pressure exam structure was also fine with 1 exam per day. Format of exam as per board regulation students were able to prepare easily. Lab was daily in afternoon so that was hectic part there was lot of drain of energy after the lab work.

Admission

After my SSC result I applied to several colleges for science stream. My choice was Bhavans. I applied to some 5 colleges. Merit list of candidates eligible was put after every 2-3 days. So I didn't get in Bhavans list was closing high. Other college was also closing high. I was losing hope. I didn't know what to do next. But when the last list was put my name was there.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty was good and helpful.specially the chemistry teachers were good. They knew the students well. They interacted with students to know if were able to understand the subject. Whenever students approached them they guided very well. They also gave reference which we were supposed to go through to understand the subject.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Biotechnology because it is a multidisciplinary field. We get to study not only topics related to biotechnology but also biochemistry, bio physics, bio informatics, bio statistics, etc. Mostly everything that is essential for future exams is taught during the span of 3 years. The topics of the units are taught in depth but the questions asked during exams are comparatively easy as to what all we studied. The frequency of the exam is, 1 internal exam which consists of both mcqs and written exam, the semester exam for each semester and practical exams for each subject. If u have studied then you will be able to attempt the questions.

Placement Experience:

My college gives campus placement placement opportunities typically after 4th semester, which is the 2nd half of the 2nd year. As my college has a partnership with IBM so the standards of campus placement go right up as the placement depends on the curriculum performance of the student so can't really say much for this. If saying as a stalemate, getting a placement is basically confirmed if the student maintains his/her CGPA of 6-7, which shows the consistent of the student in their field.
