Remarks

Kalyani Government Engineering College(KGEC) is a very good college which is governed by West Bengal Government and affiliated by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology(MAKAUT). The course fees is very little comparing to other colleges. You can admit to the collge by WBJEE counselling process. You should have under 5000 rank to get branches in our college. Overall, it was my right decision to opt KGEC.

Course Curriculum Overview

As KGEC is affiliated under MAKAUT, so the course curriculum is made by the University. The curriculum is quite good and good to say it has been updated recently. The faculty student ratio is nearly 1:10. The faculties are highly qualified and have many research papers and ph.d. They give us their precious knowledge to make us industry compatible. There are two semesters in a year. Odd sem is on Nov-Dec month and even sem is on May-Jun month. In each sem there are two internal examination. It is quite easy to pass in the semester.

Placement Experience

The campus placements are quite good. TCS, CTS, Infosys, IBM etc visit our campus. Average salary package is 6 lpa. Apart from that students also got placed in amazon, microsoft, google etc. There are Training and Placement Cell for conducting campus placement.

College Events

Life of campus is excellent. There are many chances to reveal your extracurricular activities. There are clubs like music club- RIYAZ, dance club- Elysium, Literature club- Litmus, Entrepreneurship Cell etc. The name of our fest is Espektro. It is consited of Techtix- Tech fest and Exotica- Cutural fest. Apart from that there are sports club, Industry and Institute Partnership(IIP) cell, Training and Placement Cell etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The tuition fees for ece is 12000 per annum. Apart from that you have to pay 1200 per semester as exam fees. There are some tution fee waiver (tfw) quota to get rid of tution fees. Besides, college provides full feeship and half feeship for needy students. The campus jobs are quite good. TCS, CTS, Infosys, IBM etc visit our campus. Average salary is 6 lpa. Apart from that students also got placed in amazon, microsoft, google etc.

Hostel Facilities

The hostel facilitiy is quite good. There are 5 hostels in our canpus - 4 boys hostel- APC Roy Hall, RRR Hall, RBC Hall, Vidyasagar Chatrabas, 1 girls hostel- Pritilata Chatrinibas. Each hostel student capacity is near 100. There is no accomodation fees for hostel, you have to give only food fees. Food quality is medium.

Hostel Fee: INR 24000 per year

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Deperments with strong placement cells secure 10-15 offers per company, depending on batch size. 5. 8-10LPA Highest package offered by Leading companies and 4-5LPA Average package offered by companies. 6. 60-80% of students getting placements. i am interested in Ph.D. programs for research positions.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

I gave West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination in 2024. I scored a decent rank but due to high cut off of this year I didn't get good branch in Jadavpur University.
