Close to hometown,Has Progressive environment, Popular institution;will help me in future endeavours, Promotes sports to a great extent, University is blessed with talented faculties and fellow students.

Course Curriculum Overview

I was interested in Mechanical related subject from long before. Wait, you don't know my subject. I study Production Engineering in Jadavpur University. F:S ratio is about 1:6.5. Faculties are mostly graduated engineers along with masters in some subject(they teach). Our term exam dates are planned by us and the time given is sufficient. Paper was moderate but due to lack of proper administration some students getting less marks than deserved.

Class Size: 51Course Fees: INR 10710 per year

Placement Experience

4.5

Eligibility starts from 3rd year. More than 20 companies visited and I am not sure about the number of offers made. You can guess I believe. Highest package from 2019th batch was 22lpa and avg package is about 8lpa. 90% students get placed. I am planning to pursue Masters in production after this.

College Events

Amazing social life. University has Engineering, arts and science departments in it with their own annual fests. Engineering people have their Tech fests about twice an year. Plenty collection present in library. Sports is promoted among the students with annual sports fest Arena and U-turn. Many clubs are present namely music, debate, photography, mountaineering etc.

Campus Life

Old is gold. Campus is quite large, spacious and green. Covered entirely with high speed wifi. Equipments in lab are good enough. Library is quite well managed and spacious. No complaints. (Kindly decrease the limit of min characters)

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

1. Students generally get eligible for campus placements from the 3rd semester of the M.Sc. course. 2. Deperments like Biotechnology,Botany,Zoology have placement support. 3. Companies coming to campus like TCS,Wipro,Deloitte,Biocon,Pfizer. 4. Deperments with strong placement cells secure 10-15 offers per company, depending on batch size. 5. 8-10LPA Highest package offered by Leading companies and 4-5LPA Average package offered by companies. 6. 60-80% of students getting placements. i am interested in Ph.D. programs for research positions.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Like my main was getting to IIT which I couldn't as U couldn't clear JEE advanced.So my next option was to choose between NITS and JU.So clearly choose JU because it completes our BE in 10k whereas the fees of NITs are really high.So as I gave JEE in 2024 my jee main rank was something around 64K (95.5 percentile) and my wbjee rank was 2341 and got alloted food Technology and biochemical engineering in jadavpur university.The process to get into our college is to give wbjee and if u are a general your rank should be within 2500 to get into this premium college....Read More
