Remarks
Xavier Institute of Management is situated at the heart of Odisha - Bhubaneswar. It has been consistently ranked among the top-tier colleges in India for providing high-quality business management education. The campus is situated inside the city and is a very lush, green campus, with state-of-the-art infrastructure. The classrooms, auditorium, multi-purpose halls, etc. are all air-conditioned. Students are given the free hand to choose any subject they like in the 2nd year, for specialization. I, personally, am inclined towards finance, and XIMB offers outstanding faculties and impressive finance subjects, which are golden to me. Placements are also very impressive with an average package of around 15.42 lacs p.a.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college follows a trimester schedule, with a mandatory summer internship program, in order to get promoted to the second year. Term 1 to Term 3 will have around 30 subjects in total. The curriculum is very rigorous and a student has to manage all the academic, extra-curricular as well as placement activities, all at the same time. Some weeks are easy while some are extremely hectic. But this rigour is designed to instil professionalism into students. Faculties are extremely experienced, some of them even having corporate exposure from top companies (both public and private sector). A batch of 360 students will be divided into 6 sections, so as to give utmost individual care to every student.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are offered in all domains like Market research, product development, risk advisory, financial planning and advisory, credit analyst, supply chain intern, design intern, etc. The various student committees of XIMB manage to find live project opportunities for the students on an extremely frequent basis.
Placement Experience
The placement committee provided summer internships to each and every student before the 1st year ends. The college also boasts 100% placement before Term 6 starts (in normal conditions). The average package offered is 15.42lpa and the highest domestic package goes to 26-27lpa. Some of the top recruiters are Morgan Stanley, Amazon, Accenture, Deloitte, Microsoft, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, etc. Last year, the final placement process saw a whopping increase in the number of recruiters.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course fee is 20 lakh and 30 thousand rupees approximately, and it is subject to have minor changes every year. The hostels are provided on a single or twin sharing basis, and hostel fees are taken separately, on a semi-annual/annual basis. Mess fees will be around 5000 per month extra. Students have the option to avail scholarships, but the details would have to be referred from the official website. The tuition fee in XIMB is a little costly, but the career boost provided by the college is worth all this money. XIMB has a highly efficient placement committee that ensures every student gets a summer internship and also gets a final placement. Additionally, various committees in XIMB are tasked with providing various kinds of live projects to the students, throughout the academic year.
Campus Life
XIMB holds the title of organizing the biggest annual fest in East India, named Xpressions. It is held every year but was held on a comparatively small scale, due to the pandemic shifting classes online. Classrooms are air-conditioned. The library has thousands of books, which can be issued to students. XIMBhas many professors publishing their own research papers and journals regularly. It also has a Bloomberg Lab, with free access to the students. Amidst all these academics, the college ensures that the extracurricular activities get attention too. XIMB has a dedicated sports committee for this purpose.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are wifi-enabled and are provided on a single or twin sharing basis. Mess food is awesome, and unlike the normal colleges, its quality doesn't deteriorate with time. Students are given positions of responsibilities are also the power to hold mess and hostel staff accountable. This ensures the maintenance of the quality of hostels and food.
Interview Experience
The selection process included a Group Discussion round, followed by a Written Ability Test, and finally a Personal Interview. The weightage of different sections of selection, more or less, varies every year, and a circular gets published on the official website pertaining to all the required details. 50 percent of the seats come under the Domicile quota, which is reserved for students residing and native to the state of Odisha. But the management of the college ensures that this reservation system doesn't compromise on the quality and diversity of the batch.
