Remarks

The admission process of b.com (h) in DU is merit based. So according to my score in the 12th class, there were many colleges where I can take admission. This college was much better than the other colleges which I got based on my merit. Now there were few colleges among which I was really confused. So I asked my parents as they are also alumni of DU. They suggested that Janki Devi Memorial College is better. Then I searched on the internet, read people's reviews on Quora. I also asked many of my relatives and neighbours who are or were in DU. So after a lot of discussion and research, I finally chose JDMC as my college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I am fond of the subject accountancy and want to become a teacher for that subject in future. So the first step for that is to pursue my graduation in B.com (h) course. That's why I chose this course. Though the female teachers are more than the male ones that don't compromise with the quality of teaching the college provides. The faculty is very good. The teachers are very interactive in their teaching patterns and also welcome any feedback from the students regarding the same. They also take time to assessments to check our concept clarity and also are very helpful and cooperative. And exams in the entire DU takes place on a semester basis (May and December).

Internships Opportunities

4

Yes, there are internship opportunities provided by the college communicated to us through the placement cell. The positions offered in the internships are Sales and marketing intern, HR intern, Content writer, PR intern etc. The perks provided are a certificate, letter of recommendation based on performance and sometimes performance based stipend. I have done few internships as a sales and marketing intern for some online platforms. I have received certificates and LOR for that. Also, I got performance based stipend in one of them.

Placement Experience

4

There is a placement cell in the college that informs the students about the companies that visit the college. Final year students can enrol and get through it via tests and interviews. The average package that these companies offer is 3-4 LPA. The highest package that I have come across through the information from the placement cell is 7 LPA. I want to become an accountancy teacher so I would go for M.com after my graduation.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees of the college are very reasonable, in fact of the entire DU for that matter. My fees in the first year were around 10000 along with 1000 something exam fees, then in the second year it was 17000(exam fee included) and in the final year, it is 15000(exam fee included). This fee structure is very low as compared to private colleges or universities.

Campus Life

4.5

Life at the campus is very good. There are many societies in college such as dance society, music society, arts and crafts, debate society, photography society etc., where students can enrol themselves as per their interests. Also, there is a student union having teams such as Hospitality, Media, Refreshment, Discipline etc. Each department has its own association also. For example, the Commerce Department has its own commerce association known as Mohur, where all the students of the commerce department from any year can take part. This association also has various teams such as Media, creative, anchoring etc. There are some other cells also like placement cell, Finance cell. Every year in January the annual fest "Symphony" is organised where students get to take part in various inter college competitions and also many stalls of clothes, food, games etc. are also put up. DJ is also there. Then there is also a concert organised by a celebrity singer. Similarly, there are departmental fests also.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well i choose this course because I didn't got what I wanted. Many students are from arts background who got this course because they had no option. The curriculum is same as school all chapters and everything. The law section is new. About buisness and law and everything. Rest is same. Changes in curriculum is not in their hands. But if they could actually change the accounting syllabus. The timing of exams is normal 2:30 to 6:30. And internal test taken by perspective teacher are according to their time and class. They will take retest incase you didn't attended.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really was interested in finance and taxation from the beginning. This course aligned rightly with my interests. The curriculum is based on real world applications. Corporate accounting, financial accounting, company law, human resource management, these are very important considering change in the job market and business world. Not only real world applications but one can also go for further academic pursuit such as a master's degree and research. This makes the curriculum really diverse. Some areas of suggestions would be that in theory subjects there should be practical activities. Just like vestibular training. The time of exams is just right. After the completion of syllabus of a particular subject, we are given 10 days of preparation leave. The exams are moderate and it really tests our ability and knowledge based on our studies.

For placements fifth semester student are eligible for placements. Since it is best commerce college. Companies like big 4, google, bank of America, Goldman Sachs, bcg, bain and co., Sbi, paytm, meesho and many more comes. The highest package was 36 LPA this year from meesho for senior analyst roles. Average package is 10 LPA. Most of the placements take place in consulting, marketing, auditing, finance and analyst roles. Around more than 50% of the students get placed. My plan is to take placements in consulting and finance roles after the degree from the college.

Placement Experience:

The placement of my college is good if you perform well in the process of selection, as I told earlier, the placement cell is pretty active, so you would have a good number of options. I will be naming the good companies that visited my college, they were EY, Deloitte, DE SHAW, TCS, KPMG, etc. Numerous offers were made and I would say over 80% students in my batch got placed in good companies.

In open learning management.. they provide hard copy of books tk prepare whole semester and this is a very good thing because those books are covering whole semester in some books only and there is a v good thing I found... At the end of every chapter they provide summaries and mock questions for every chapter to analyse the weakness and strength. the areas for improvements in the Course Curriculum and Teaching Methods--- they should also provide a mock test paper as per the paper model and latest questions or updated topics with to the point topics The difficulty is normal if candidate is completely prepared...
