College Review : VIIT Pune

I'll mention some pros and cons. Pros : 1. Extremely helpful faculty as well as administrative staff. Always open to discussions and doubt-solving sessions related to industry-relevant academics. 2. Mentorship and training programs are available for each and every path of the career profile you want to achieve. 3. A very good community of students for college activities, as well as the alumni, from whom you can have proper guidance as required. 4. Autonomous curriculum due to which career exploration is possible without taking too much stress on the academics. Elective choices for subjects make it easier. Cons : 1. The college is situated outside the main Pune area, due to which it becomes a bit difficult to availing public transport. 2. The area near the college is not that good, as there is a slum area nearby. 3. Improvement on infrastructure and proper allocation is required. The college academic year starts in the month of August.

I chose Mechanical Engineering personally because it helps us to understand how too manage and tackle projects professionally in life. This is due to the fact that, the curriculum is structured in a such a way that a mindset for the upcoming industry exposure is shaped slowly during the years of our graduation. The main part is the technical part teaches us the core mechanical subjects, which are very interesting to learn. Faculty to student ratio is good, with different professors for each subject, well versed in the subjects which they teach. The term exam and the difficulty depends on the preparation level. The result varies on a scale of 1-10 where, if you prepare smartly, you can score good. However, negligence is something not recommended anywhere.

For mechanical engineering, there are some internship opportunities, which are notified by the college through mail. You may grab one of the opportunity, and with the correct input may bag a PPO from the company one is an intern at.

For mechanical engineering, statistics show that placements are okayish-good. There are offers available, which provide good work opportunities. The percent of students getting placed in the CS & IT branches is high though.

At the time of my admission, the fees were something in the bracket of 130K-140K Rupees. But, it increased in just a year, by 20K, and this year, even in this COVID situation, it got hiked up a bit. But, the administration and non-teaching faculty are kind enough to understand what you want to say and provide assistance to your queries regarding the fee policy. Scholarships are available.

There are many student clubs, and fests ongoing on the campus. The main flagship event of our college 'Gandharva' is scheduled in the month of January-February tentatively each year. Library with the books you require for academics, for each and every branch, and some of the books for light reading are also available.
