Entrance Preview

I got admission in JIS College of Engineering , course B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering. My All India rank in AIEEE was 50000 by which I got admitted. I opted for this college because previous years campus placement record was good and the college was not so far from my home.

Course Curriculum Overview

I researched online. I got to know that I can take admission in B.tech, BBA,BCA department. I was interested in B.tech, so I went through the branches of B.tech in which I selected Electronics and Communication. Since I was good in Physics and interested in communication domain also, so I opted for this course.

Internships Opportunities

Yes , college provide internship to good students who have good marks in 10, 12. Also among toppers in college. Stipend I am not sure.

Placement Experience

College performed many placement programes. Starting from first year of college, many big MNC organisations used to conduct training and motivating sessions. Also our college organised pre placement preparation sessions, that was very effective. Placement is above average. 50% students got placed in our college in my passing year and it was recession time. For recession time, I will say it is not bad.

Technical Fests- Robotis, Mechanical Workshop, Cultural- College Fest, Events, Competition. All kind of talents are encouraged- dance, singing, music, instrumental, poetry, recitation, DJ, Speech, Sports- Badminton, Cricket, Football.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Feasible. 50k per semester. 1 lakh for 1 year. Total 4 lakh for 4 year. This includes tuition fee, library fee everything. It is of course more than government college, but less than many private institutions. Hostel fee is 3.5k per month . Food and other facilities were very good and hygenic.

Gender ratio 1:1 of boys and Girls are equal in college but may vary department wise. Like more girls go for IT, Computer Science. More Boys go for Mechanical , Civil.

Exam Structure

In B.tech, total 8 semester exam. Total 32 internal exam. The semester exam consisted of all the subject written test of 100 marks plus Practical exam separately for each subject. Exam structure was good, In each year student have to pass 8 exam. If anyone gets Supplementary , then he / she can appear again in next semester.

Placement Experience:

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

I choose this college because this college was good in among all the average colleges in West Bengal leaving the top colleges. The placement is also good. So for all this reason I choose this college. I wanted to go for heritage but my name didn't came in cutoff.
