Remarks
I had a score of 79.9 percentile in CAT 2019. BIMTECH accepts a score of 70+ in CAT/XAT for its PGDM Core program. Since last year it has started to accept CMAT scores too for PGDM core. It gives a chance to those candidates who couldn't score much in CAT/XAT exam but have calibre and knowledge. The WAT-PI part of the admission process appropriately tests candidates with potential. The admission process was smooth. Right from day 1 of filling the application to getting the offer letter, the institute has provided all the required help and guidance. BIMTECH has an edge over its B school counterparts in terms of quality of education, learning and exposure. For me, it has an advantage of location too since I preferred B school located in NCR due to personal reasons. It is 3 decades old institute and has a strong alumni network across various companies.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course and curriculum have been designed as per required standards. Apart from regular subjects, practical subjects like design thinking and entrepreneurship are also taught which help to develop critical thinking among students. Certifications such as that of Ms excel, Python etc are also available for the students so that they can develop their skillset. The faculty members are well qualified and knowledgeable. Most of them are PhD holders. They have several years of industry experience themselves and are alumni of various reputed institutes such as IIM-A. Both regular, as well as a guest faculty member, is really helpful and approachable. They never hesitate to help whenever their mentorship is required. They are very collaborative and interactive even in online classes. We have around 240 students in the PGDM core batch which are divided into 4 sections as per their specialisation. Apart from the midterm and end term exams, faculty members do a continuous evaluation of students.
Internships Opportunities
There are average opportunities for internships. Not many big companies come. Most of the internships are offered by small companies and start-ups which may or may not give a stipend. Although companies like KPMG and IDFC banks too come for taking interns not many students manage to get internships with big companies.
Placement Experience
BIMTECH offers decent placements. The highest domestic placement goes up to 16LPA and the average remains around 8.5 LPA. But this year due to CIVID average CTC was 8 LPA only. Big companies like KPMG, Amazon, Swiss Re come for campus hiring. The placement cell works really hard for students and provides the necessary guidance through sessions with industry experts so that students may become placement ready. The usual time for placement starts in September. This year the percentage of students placed is not available yet since hiring is still going on. In the 2018-20 batch 95 percent of students were placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee for the 2020-22 batch is approx. 15 Lacs which is a bit expensive but it is justifiable compared to the fee of similar B schools. There are scholarship opportunities for CAR merit holders as well as for those who are toppers in end term exams. Those who have a score of more than 85 percentile in CAT/XAT get a rebate of Rs 2 Lacs in overall fees. Late GD Birla scholarship of merit is awarded of Rs 50,000 is given to those who score rank 1 and Rs 25000 is given to those who score rank 2 in end term exams. Total 8 students received this scholarship in the PGDM program for term 1 performance.
Campus Life
BIMTECH has a fine campus in knowledge park 2 Gr Noida. It has an inbuilt campus for girls and second year students. The hostel for 1st year boys is located out of the campus. It is internet enabled campus and has all the facilities of Gym, park, tuck shop, salon, laundry etc. The mess serves delicious nutritious meals. There is a beautiful temple inside and all the cultural festivals are celebrated with great enthusiasm. There are several clubs and conduits managed by students.
Hostel Facilities
A well-furnished room is provided to students with a chair-table and all the necessary furniture. There are 4 rooms in a cluster with a common hall. The meals served in the mess are of the finest quality. There is a new menu each month with separate dishes for every day. At festivals, the relevant food is served like special desserts.
Interview Experience
The admission process is followed by the WAT-PI round. In WAT we were given to write for or against a topic in 500 words. The topic may be a current affair, abstract or any critical thinking based. In PI two faculty members thoroughly assess the candidate. They ask questions related to our own academic background, general topics, tech, economy etc.
