Remarks
I had selected Netaji Subhash Engineering College because of its Biomedical Engineering department since it ranked among top 10 colleges for biomedical in India. The admission process was through WBJEE counselling and subsequent seat allotment. Our college has good placement record over the years and also organises for pre placement training programs. Various cultural,sports and technical fests are organised throughout the year which motivates students to indulge in co curricular activities for all round development. The college is situated close to New Garia metro and railway stations hence it has a good connectivity.
Course Curriculum Overview
Biomedical Engineering is an interdisciplinary field which has an employment growth due to increased application in medical devices and has a scope for higher studies in both India & abroad. People after graduation are mostly employed in hospitals and medical device manufacturing companies. Our department has well experiened faculty members who are cooperative and friendly with the students. We have well equipped laboratories. The department though small compared to the other streams its like a family with friendly environment . Our faculties always guide us for training program during semester breaks. Internals and semester exams happened timely. The difficulty level is moderate and it becomes helpful if one follows the regular classes and assignments. Assignments helps us to gain a better insight for the subject.
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester onwards the students are eligible to participate in the campus placement drive. Companies like TCS, CTS, Amazon, LTI, TCG, Edwisor, BYJUS hire students through online exams, gd and interview sessions. The average package varies between 3.5 to 4 lakh per annum. Core companies like Zifo R&D Solutions also recruit students on campus. Our college also provides pre-placement, training classes. For IT companies an individual needs to develop their coding skills from the beginning and work hard on it. For core companies, students need to have a deeper insight into their respective field and try to undergo training programs during semester breaks to gain a more practical and industry-related approach. I plan to opt for higher studies after graduation.
Fees and Financial Aid
Average cost per semester was approximately between 43250 to 44250. The fees increase on per year basis. Few students opt for financial assistance through educational loans. For the 1st semester only the fees amount is higher compared to the other semesters.
Campus Life
The college organises annual cultural and tech fests which are mostly held between January to April. The NSEC central library and the digital library are well equipped with wide range of reference books. Our BME department organises the annual reunion for the alumni. Various sports activities are also held alongwith cultural fests which ensures participation in co curricular activities for all round development.
