Remarks

Hansraj College is affiliated with Delhi University & so the admission procedure prescribed by the university is followed by the college. Admission to B.com (Hons.) is merit based. The student who satisfies the cutoffs are admitted. The college generally releases 4-6 cutoffs every year. The entire admission process was done on an online portal & the procedure was smooth & easy. They made sure that the students get enough time to submit documents & pay fees. Although admission to the college was delayed because of the pandemic & procedure got completed in the week of November. The classes started in the last week of November. I chose Hansraj college over other colleges because it is among the 10 commerce colleges in the country & has been maintaining this position for the past few years now. Apart from this some other reasons include the societies, clubs, fests, atmosphere, diversity it offers & the faculty. The college provides 19 courses & is the only college in the university with maximum courses.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

B.com(Hons) is a very diversified & extensive course & since I am pursuing CA alongside so it was highly suggested for me.Also, the best thing about pursuing this course is that it provides a complete understanding of various subjects & also enables an individual to gain practical experience & industrial exposure. As far as the faculty student ratio is considered, initially only 1 teacher was allotted to teach 187 students however later considering the difficulties faced more teachers were hired & the ratio turned to 1:84.Teachers at the college are all PhD holders & are experienced. They have the correct mindset & approach towards students which makes it easier for students to connect with them. Their approach is very comprehensive. Timely syllabus completion & regular test are given high priority. The mid semester exams were moderately difficult, the students how paid attention in class will hardly face any difficulty in the exam because most of the questions were covered in the class itself

Internships Opportunities

4.5

The college also has an Internship Cell which is consistent with its commitment to discover new prospects & opportunities for the students & cater for the most imperative demand of the students. The Internship Cell is highly active & provides a plethora of internship opportunities across various fields to the students on daily basis. The Cell has its own ‘Internship Cell Portal’ where all the Internship opportunities are uploaded by the core committee. Students of the college are required to log in to the Portal to view & apply to any Internship. The Cell maintains a strict exclusivity term wherein only students of Hansraj are allowed to apply for an internship opportunity uploaded. The students are required to submit their resume & appear for the interviews scheduled to be shortlisted for an internship. The Cell has organised a PAN India ‘Internship Fair’ from 25th April,21 where recruiters such as The Indian Express, Taxmann, Bajaj Capital, CPRG, Decathlon etc. visit the fair for hiring interns.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placement Cell, Hansraj College is considered to be one of the most prestigious societies in the college as well as the university. The cell is highly active & committed to securing the best possible opportunities for the students by providing them with a thriving platform & the best exposure. Only Final Year students are eligible to apply for campus placements. Companies such as EY, Deloitte, De Shaw, OYO, McKinsey & Company, Josh Talks, Zomato, Wipro, ITC, Future First, etc. Have visited the college campus to place students. Talking specifically about the commerce stream, many students are placed in comparison to students of other courses. The average salary package offered to students of B.com (Honours) is 8-9 lakhs per annum(LPA). More than 55% of the students from the commerce department get placed in MNC’s with good annual packages. The placement record of the college is quite impressive although one has to through vigorous competition.

Fees and Financial Aid

Hansraj College is a semi govt. college so the fees of the college are higher when compared to other colleges of DU. The fees structure is declared by the college committee in advance and is charged from the students altogether at the time of admission. The fees differ on the category student belongs to & varies accordingly. The annual fees of a general category student pursuing B.com (Hons.) 1st are 20,945 so the fees are very minimal. Although the college fees are very low the college still provides many scholarships to the students. These scholarships are based on specific criteria which the applicants are required to satisfy. Both merit and need based scholarships are provided by the college and ‘The Student Welfare Committee’ of the college conducts interviews for the same purpose. Fees concession from 50% to 100% is offered by the college based on annual income, family background etc. Institutions such as DAV, SNM, Girl Child Policy, FAEA also offer scholarships to college students.

Campus Life

4.5

Being from the 2020 batch, I haven’t got the opportunity to physically witness college life & the campus. Although on various occasions we have been informed about facilities available at the campus. Some of which include Auditorium, Library, Canteen, Sprawling playground, Amphitheater & seminar rooms which are well equipped. The infrastructure of the college meets the pedagogic needs of the students & has 18 science labs & 6 Comp. Labs. The library is well maintained & very resourceful. It has an easy issue & returns policy. The college has a no. of societies in various fields & the students are encouraged to join as per their areas of interest.NCC, NSS, The Commerce Society, The Debating Society, Swaranjali, FERC are some of the most prestigious societies. College life is very happening, one will never feel short of the events. The college is visited by many celebrities every year like Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Shahrukh Khan etc. Every year the annual fest, CONFLUENCE is organised by the college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well i choose this course because I didn't got what I wanted. Many students are from arts background who got this course because they had no option. The curriculum is same as school all chapters and everything. The law section is new. About buisness and law and everything. Rest is same. Changes in curriculum is not in their hands. But if they could actually change the accounting syllabus. The timing of exams is normal 2:30 to 6:30. And internal test taken by perspective teacher are according to their time and class. They will take retest incase you didn't attended.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really was interested in finance and taxation from the beginning. This course aligned rightly with my interests. The curriculum is based on real world applications. Corporate accounting, financial accounting, company law, human resource management, these are very important considering change in the job market and business world. Not only real world applications but one can also go for further academic pursuit such as a master's degree and research. This makes the curriculum really diverse. Some areas of suggestions would be that in theory subjects there should be practical activities. Just like vestibular training. The time of exams is just right. After the completion of syllabus of a particular subject, we are given 10 days of preparation leave. The exams are moderate and it really tests our ability and knowledge based on our studies.

For placements fifth semester student are eligible for placements. Since it is best commerce college. Companies like big 4, google, bank of America, Goldman Sachs, bcg, bain and co., Sbi, paytm, meesho and many more comes. The highest package was 36 LPA this year from meesho for senior analyst roles. Average package is 10 LPA. Most of the placements take place in consulting, marketing, auditing, finance and analyst roles. Around more than 50% of the students get placed. My plan is to take placements in consulting and finance roles after the degree from the college.

The placement of my college is good if you perform well in the process of selection, as I told earlier, the placement cell is pretty active, so you would have a good number of options. I will be naming the good companies that visited my college, they were EY, Deloitte, DE SHAW, TCS, KPMG, etc. Numerous offers were made and I would say over 80% students in my batch got placed in good companies.

In open learning management.. they provide hard copy of books tk prepare whole semester and this is a very good thing because those books are covering whole semester in some books only and there is a v good thing I found... At the end of every chapter they provide summaries and mock questions for every chapter to analyse the weakness and strength. the areas for improvements in the Course Curriculum and Teaching Methods--- they should also provide a mock test paper as per the paper model and latest questions or updated topics with to the point topics The difficulty is normal if candidate is completely prepared...
