Remarks

Shivaji College is quite good for academics. Teachers, staff, and unions are very helpful both at the time of admission and after admission. If you ask for any queries, they actually reply very fast. Societies are also very active. I m also part of two societies, we have organized competition very successfully and we are also working on projects. The placement cell is also great, it provided me an internship the day I step in. Seniors are also great guys. As for infrastructure, I can't say as we actually never visited the college because of a pandemic but as I have read about it Shivaji has the biggest library and biggest playground in du. So, Shivaji College actually worth it.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I have chosen b.com Hons because thats what I want to do. We have 46 students in a class, girls' ratio is more than the boy's ratio. Most in our class are from Delhi, Haryana, Delhi NCR so, there is not much diversity. The faculty is great. The teacher will help you even before one hour to the exam. The exam is the same for all the du college. obe is a little difficult but you will not fail.

Internships Opportunities

Placement Experience

5

You are eligible for placement the day you get admission. As I first-semester student, you will not get placement opportunities but u can opt for an internship. I get an internship opportunity after one month of admission, I get selected and I m earning 5000 per month. You can apply for an internship any time as we have a placement portal on the college website. From there you can apply to any company. I m in the second semester so I don't know about the placement opportunities. But the company I m doing internship did offer me a full-time job. The placement cell organizes a placement fair around 40-50 company offers internship and placement opportunities. The placement cell is very active all around the year. I plan to do mba in finance after getting a degree or I will become a trader.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees for the college are 20k for general students. You can apply for a scholarship or fee concession. I have not applied for any of it bcoz I m capable of paying the fees but many of my friends applied for it and they got a refund. And placement cell is also great. I got the internship in Class plus and I m earning 5000 a month now.

Campus Life

5

Due to corona, we never really had a normal college life. Our seniors organized a virtual fresher which was really great. One can not have a better virtual fresher than we had. The annual fest was also organized virtually which was also great. We have the biggest library, availability of books is not something we have to worry about. Plus all the books are also provided to us in pdf format. Societies are very active. I m also part of two societies, we have organized fest and also participating in competitions.

Interview Experience

4.5

When I got the admission. We just have to fill the registration form of du then we get admission according to the merit basis. Du releases a list of colleges and the cutoff, if you satisfy the cutoff you can apply for admission. Your documents will get verified by the college and you will get a fee to slip that will confirm your admission. If u have any queries regarding admission, you can contact the nodal officer. They will reply to you very fast.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well i choose this course because I didn't got what I wanted. Many students are from arts background who got this course because they had no option. The curriculum is same as school all chapters and everything. The law section is new. About buisness and law and everything. Rest is same. Changes in curriculum is not in their hands. But if they could actually change the accounting syllabus. The timing of exams is normal 2:30 to 6:30. And internal test taken by perspective teacher are according to their time and class. They will take retest incase you didn't attended.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really was interested in finance and taxation from the beginning. This course aligned rightly with my interests. The curriculum is based on real world applications. Corporate accounting, financial accounting, company law, human resource management, these are very important considering change in the job market and business world. Not only real world applications but one can also go for further academic pursuit such as a master's degree and research. This makes the curriculum really diverse. Some areas of suggestions would be that in theory subjects there should be practical activities. Just like vestibular training. The time of exams is just right. After the completion of syllabus of a particular subject, we are given 10 days of preparation leave. The exams are moderate and it really tests our ability and knowledge based on our studies.

For placements fifth semester student are eligible for placements. Since it is best commerce college. Companies like big 4, google, bank of America, Goldman Sachs, bcg, bain and co., Sbi, paytm, meesho and many more comes. The highest package was 36 LPA this year from meesho for senior analyst roles. Average package is 10 LPA. Most of the placements take place in consulting, marketing, auditing, finance and analyst roles. Around more than 50% of the students get placed. My plan is to take placements in consulting and finance roles after the degree from the college.

The placement of my college is good if you perform well in the process of selection, as I told earlier, the placement cell is pretty active, so you would have a good number of options. I will be naming the good companies that visited my college, they were EY, Deloitte, DE SHAW, TCS, KPMG, etc. Numerous offers were made and I would say over 80% students in my batch got placed in good companies.

In open learning management.. they provide hard copy of books tk prepare whole semester and this is a very good thing because those books are covering whole semester in some books only and there is a v good thing I found... At the end of every chapter they provide summaries and mock questions for every chapter to analyse the weakness and strength. the areas for improvements in the Course Curriculum and Teaching Methods--- they should also provide a mock test paper as per the paper model and latest questions or updated topics with to the point topics The difficulty is normal if candidate is completely prepared...
