Pros and Cons of Civil Engineering in NSEC

One of my friend's brother who had passed out from this college and placed in a core and good company from the Civil Engineering department had suggested me this college and meghnad shah. As I told previously that he got placed from the civil department from netaji Subhash engineering college so this college has made a good reputation in my eyes. So I choose this college over meghnad shah. I didn't face any hectic situation during admission. But one problem I faced that the banking system of this college was not upto the mark I had to stand in queu for hours to get the fees submitted.

The cource curriculum of Netaji Subhash Engineering College is purely based on the syllabus published by MAKAUT (Formerly known as WBUT). As far as the faculties are concerned. I had experienced a good Faculty staffs. The faculties in this college have a good grip on their specialized subjects. Also, I should highlight That all the faculties in the Civil Engineering department have both theoretical and field knowledge. After spending 4 years in this college I came to know that maximum of the faculties here had their masters from reputed colleges like Jadavpur University and NIT Patna. Lab assistants are not up to the mark. But I can assure it that they are well trained and very professional.

The college has a good reputation for placements. But if you are from core departments like civil and mechanical you will get fewer opportunities here. But in recent years I have seen some core companies coming to the campus and recruit a bunch of students from civil which is a plus point. Once you clear your 6th semester you are eligible for placemebts. But departments like CSE, ECE, IT, have a very high percentage of placements. Almost 95% of eligible students get placed. Companies like TCS, Capegiminy, LTI and many more visit the campus every year to recruit almost 80% of students. TCS remains the mass recruiter. The average pacKage is around 4.5 LPA.

Coming from a middle-class family, 4 lakh fee looks huge for me. This fee structure doesn't match the infrastructure they have. So this fee structure is not fair enough. As I am a minority student so I get a minority scholarship from the state government. And college never failed to approve my scholarship. So if you are eligible for any scholarship scheme, the college will approve you without any hectic. But you will not get any scholarship from the college itself on a merit basis. If your are coming from a fanincially weak background and if you had qualified Wbjee you will get TFW scholarship easily.

The campua life in the College is good if u can make some good friends. And if you are an introvert, then no problem, you will get enough space. College has its own library containing all the books require for a particular semester. You can keep those books according to your need. You just need to renew it every month. Failing from that you have to pay re 1 per book per day Netaji Subhash Engineering College celebrates its annual Tech Fest 'AVENIR' organised by 'PHOENIX' the official tech club of NSEC. In the Civil department also we organise "NIRMAN" Except that all the departments organise their own reunions and farewells. We also have annual sports events named "ZEST".
