Remarks

I joined Lady Shri Ram College for Women in October 2020, the year when education shifted to the online platform. LSR's brand name is enough to convince a student in its favour. However, I was a little hesitant at first because of the college's single-gender environment. So, I researched and decided to join the college. Now, after spending a semester there, I feel that the college does justice to its reputation as one of the best in the country. Pros of LSR: The irrefutable brand name of LSR. A strong closely knit alumnae network. An active placement cell. An enriching college atmosphere that facilitates healthy competition. Knowledgeable and helpful teaching faculty. However, the college has its own flaws as well. Cons of LSR: Single-gender environment (which may be a pro for some). Strict regulation regarding attendance, fests, etc. The long duration of college hours leaves very little time for other activities.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Statistics is a three-year undergraduate degree course that offers insights into the subject of Statistics and focuses on collection, organization, presentation, analysis and interpretation of data. This course teaches students to understand past data records, analyze present scenarios and deduct future outcomes. LSR's qualified teaching faculty is knowledgeable and driven by the love of the subject. They try to make concepts as graspable as possible. Despite everything switching to the online mode suddenly, LSR's administration and faculty tried to ease the teaching-learning process. Quality education is what they strive for.

Internships Opportunities

4

The placement cell of LSR offers internship opportunities as well. First, second and third-year students can avail the benefit of the programs. Summer internship opportunities are also provided to LSR students, typically second and third years. In the past, Bank of America, Citibank, JSW, Puma and HUL have recruited interns from the campus.

Placement Experience

4

LSR has an active Placement Cell, the highlight of the college. It brings internship opportunities and job offers for its students. It is headed by 5 coordinators, 2 sub-coordinators, a Research & Training Head and a Treasurer, who are supported by 31 department representatives, 25 members and 11 core team members. LSR brings in internship opportunities for the first, second and third-year students including summer internship programs for the second and third years. Bank of America, HUL, Puma and Citibank have recruited interns. In the academic year 2019-20, 100 companies visited the campus to offer jobs to students of which 110 were recruited. Industry giants like McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company, LEK Consulting, Accenture, Gartner, FTI Consulting, Citibank and EY Parthenon were invited. Despite the economic slump due to COVID-19, the highest package offered was INR 30 LPA and the average package was INR 9.4 LPA.

Fees and Financial Aid

Colleges affiliated with Delhi University are pretty much economical. They charge from around INR 7,000 - INR 40,000. Most of the colleges lie in the lower end of the range. LSR, among a few of the costly colleges of DU, charges around 20K for Statistics. The college offers scholarship to meritorious underprivileged children.

Campus Life

4

As of 2021, social interactions are being carried on through online channels. Student communities work actively towards organizing events, publishing articles, handling social media platforms and facilitating meaningful interactions among students in and outside Delhi University. Many departments in LSR have had their fests at the beginning of the year. They are still organizing fun and knowledgeable events for the students. Also, the dance society, NCC, and sports organization are active even in the online mode.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum consists of relatable topics and interesting ones as well this is what quite influenced me to take this course. We have labs which help us learn how to prepare various organic compounds which are used in many day to day products . The course also has a 4th year research program. There should be more equipments in lab for the research. The frequency is good for exams being conducted and there level is also quite good

The students become eligible for the placements provided by the college in their 3rd year, while they can pursue internship offered by the college in previous years. Average sized companies visited the campus with lots of students being placed for jobs. The highest package I am not aware of but lowest was of around 300000 pa. I plan to pursue masters after my graduation degree.

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester. I don't know a lot about campus placements but I know that there is a training and placement cell in our college that provides good packages to many students. Some students got more than 7lpa last year. I will be doing my Post graduation after college and will make a career in academics.
