Believe in yourself rather than Your college

It is one of the reputed autonomous colleges I have been hearing about for many years. I had got this college in my second round of counselling of WBJEE. I have always preferred an autonomous college over a MAKAUT affiliated college because they are always versatile and updated with their syllabus. I have sought ranks and reviews about my college in Collegedunia.com and Siksha.com.

CSE is currently the most demanding and sought after course in today's world and the is a rapid increase in hiring computer science engineers. The faculty size is moderate. There are about 60 students in other courses except for CSE and ECE. In CSE there were 180 seats our of which 150 were filled in our batch. Almost every teacher has a PhD or an MTech. degree and I are quite satisfied with their intensive knowledge and their teaching techniques. Term exams were on time as announced at the beginning of the term. It was not quite difficult to pass this time though the subjects were not very easy to take in.

Our college encourages us to apply for an internship at Internshala. They are somehow connected to our college but alas no student benefits much I believe. We are only encouraged to attend Webinars conducted by them.

The placement cell helps the students to grab placements by giving them technical and aptitude training six months before the placements. Students become eligible for placements only in the 4th year. The highest package is about 4 LPA and the average is about 2 LPA. The major companies that visit include Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Mindtree, Extramarks etc. About 95% of CSE students get placed. I don't know about other streams. I plan to pursue M.Tech after B.Tech.

The fee is a little higher than the other private institutions in and around Kolkata, which is about 4.03 lakhs. My college did not give me any chances for scholarships or financial aids. I had to apply for them elsewhere. I am in the first year so I cannot tell about the jobs but I surely know that the campus placements are not at all attractive rather they are quite average.

There have been continuous workshops, competitions and other activities to occupy us since our admission. There has also been other virtual festivities and celebrations. The annual Tech fest is yet to be conducted. Books are available free of cost at our library which is a very good thing. Classrooms are very basic without any smart equipment. There is a wide variety of clubs run by the students and for the students who are quite active. As there has been no real class I cannot tell about the sports activities.
