Remarks
The good aspect of the college is the highly competitive students here and the friendly and supportive professors and staff members. But the bad aspect is the small campus size, unavailability of the college's own hostel, above-average infrastructure and the location of the college is in a remote area. Basically here admission is based on the scores of WBJEE and JEE MAINS. Admission is still possible if there are some vacant seats, I have joined the college through this process. The reason for preferring this college is fewer fees, competitive environment and above average facilities. I have used College Dunia's reviews and one of a college's alumni who helped me to select this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose ECE because of three reasons. First, seats are only vacant for this department only. Second ECE has a good prestige in the college, in 2020 ECE students got the highest placements. Last but not the least, I have a very strong passion for electronic devices. Almost every teaching staff here is a doctorate. I have not experienced their teaching in person because of the pandemic but they are really putting very hard work into online teachings. Between every semester exam, there is a gap of almost 6months where the college fills CA marks based on assessment, quiz, etc., and two unit tests for semester preparation. And the papers were not too difficult but I will say moderate level.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, our college gives internships. I am in my first year and already one IT-based company came for training and internships. The company is Inmovidu which has to tie up with IIT Guwahati's EEE Cell. Until now I haven't enrolled in that but looking forward to some more attractive opportunities.
Placement Experience
After 3yr students become eligible for campus placements and companies like hp, tcs, cts, wipro, dell and many more comes and most of them are mass recruiters. Maximum students get placed in the mass recruiting companies only like tct, cts etc. which is the same case in whole West Bengal colleges except IIT and NIT. In 2020, 72% of the eligible candidates were placed in some companies where the highest offered package is 10lpa and the average is 4.5lpa. I have plans to continue my study with Masters's and maybe a doctorate most probably abroad.
Fees and Financial Aid
The cost of studying here is okay, which means not too high but not too low also. Until now I have completed 6 months in the college and there is no hike in fee structure. Here you get a Quota of tfw, which is only for West Bengal students, and Swami Vivekananda scholarship which is again for West Bengal students. The college provides financial assistance by providing loans through the banks. Well, I fall in None of the mentioned categories so have to pay full fees which are almost 3.5lac apart from hostel and mess fees.
Campus Life
Since I am a fresher, and in the pandemic situation where everybody is at home, I don't know very much of that, but had a departmental fest in April which happens in February every year. The tech club of NSEC is Pheonix. The college library has a very huge collection of books and can find any book from there but it's not air-conditioned. The classroom was, as usual, benches, a blackboard, and basic things.
