Entrance Preview
I took admission in biotechnology on the basis of my marks scored in 12th (79.8%). But for all other courses you need to appear in IIT JEE. I opted for this college because it was ranked 1 private biotechnology university in india ( for btech biotechnology) by Biospectrum.
Course Curriculum Overview
While it is not the best in india but without any doubt the focus on research and instruments available are very good. You can carry your own research under Phds by 2nd year. Recently our college also got gene gun. Our college also have a cancer lab(not so common). Most of the funds that come for research ,come from government.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, our college provide internship opportunities during summer vacations but they don't give stipend. Instead you have to give money for summer internship.
Placement Experience
The highest package from our college was of 21lakh/ year( cs department). Regarding biotechnology the highest package offered was 7 lakh/year ( coz biotechnology students are not industry ready) but the highest package grabed by students was around 6.5 lakh ( by 3 or 4 persons). The average package offered for biotechnology students is 3.5 lakh/ year.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure ( tuition fee fixed after taking admission but hostel fee increases every year) Fee for 2016 session -tuition fee /sem- ₹60000 Development fee -₹ 60000( once a year), Hostel fee-₹45500 .
Fees and Financial Aid
The only scholarship I know is William Webster scholarship that is offered in our college for economically weaker section. But I don't know its exact details and I haven't met anyone yet in my college who has been offered this scholarship. In the end I will just say that there is almost no scholarship that is offered in your college.
Campus Life
Campus life is very good but you will have to keep in mind that since university is located in a village so the amount of facilities available here are limited. 60% are boys and % 40 are girls. Although our college is located in Himachal but most of the students belong to middle india. There are many group in our university too from tech clubs to environment clubs and even a trekking club.
Exam Structure
We have 3 exams and 2 lab exam every semester. (Earlier it was 2 exam and 2 lab exam.) Yes, it is hectic little bit but then 3 exams every semester makes sure that we are in touch with our books and where as the amkring for lab is mostly based on our day to day work.
Faculty
It doesn't matter in which college you go,it is no secret that college teacher don't know how to teach ( Even in IITs). So , is the case with our college teachers. They are highly intelligent and had their degrees from very prestigious universities but they are not the best teachers, but if you go to them and ask any doubt then definitely they will clear that doubt.
