Remarks
It has the most beautiful campus among all IIT,s. Apart from this there are many opportunities for travel and explore beautiful northeast. There's nothing bad about this campus and college. Admission starts around April to June after GATE result. Official website is www.iitg.ac.in.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course was chosen because of the rank. Although I was preferring some other but due to my rank I got Civil Engineering WREM course. It's also very enjoyable and interesting. Faculty is very good. Student ratio is 4:1. Every faculty is PhD holder with average experience of 14-15 years. There are many quizzes and projects in between and mid term and end term exams. You have to work hard to get a good score.
Internships Opportunities
There are many companies come for internship like GE, Ramboll, Flipkart, HDFC, BAJAJ, AXIS BANK, GOLDMAN SACHS, JP MORGAN CHASE, MICROSOFT, GOOGLE and many more. There are very good opportunities for internship. Roles that are offered are analyst, manager , trainee, etc. Projects include both at site and office. Some of the project are directly related to problem solving in a company.
Placement Experience
Placements are pretty good of college but in Civil Mtech course placement are less looking at present scenario. In Civil Engineering then there's a lot of opportunity outside to choose academic career or go for PhD. In my course highest package was 10 LPA and average was 6 LPA. Percentage of students getting placed is approx 60 percent in civil and overall more than 85 percent
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee for M.Tech is not much. Also you will get a scholarship of 12400/- per month on behalf of IITG from MHRD. Campus placement for M.Tech Civil is not so good. Only free from some other disciplines in civil gets placements for eg. Structure and Geotechnical Engineering students
Campus Life
Annual cultural fest- Alcheringa (January End)Tech Fest- Techniche (August End)Availability of Books and journals is awesome. You can access them online also without going to library. There are many free subscriptions of different publisher that you will get. The facilities of sports and Gym is awesome and there are many opportunities for co-curricular activities. Some of the clubs are finance and economics club, design club, cultural club etc
Admission
No actually my year of joining was pandemic year 2020. So, at that time no interview was there. Otherwise there's a interview and Group Discussion process. Although from some past students I came to know about interview topics and interview is completely technical
