I'm a student of Hansraj College of Delhi University and I choose B.Sc(H) Mathematics as my Undergraduate course. I took admission in the college through merit-based which based on the class 12 result. Delhi university takes admission through merit-based as well as entrance based. Delhi University is not a single university, it consists of more than 60 colleges that provide varieties of courses to the students. University takes admission through entrance based in course like BBA, BCA etc and admission through merit-based in a course like BA, BSc, BCom etc. Every year university releases its merit list of different college for taking admission which totally based on your class 12 results. So, if you want to take admission to Delhi university then you have to score good marks in your class 12. If you have more than 94% then definitely have a chance to get admission to the north campus colleges of DU.
Course Curriculum Overview
I want to do my graduation in mathematics so, I decided to choose BSc (H) Mathematics instead of the BSc program. I highly recommend that if you have a great interest in mathematics then you may go to this course otherwise this course become a headache for you. Before taking admission in this course make sure to check atleast once the whole syllabus of the course which you can easily find out on the official site of Delhi University that is du.ac.in. You don't need to worry about faculty members of Hansraj College, they are well just awesome. They are well qualified and well educated. They are always ready to help you and they are very friendly. The faculty: student ratio is about 1:14. This course is all-around 3 years, 2 semesters per annum. After every 6 months, a semester exam has been conducted by the university and you have to qualify for each and every semester exams. They are very easy to pass, nothing much hard in the examination. Paper strictly based on the given syllabus.
Fees and Financial Aid
Every college of Delhi University has minimum fees criteria so that that student also take admission whose family conditions is not too good. Fees vary from different courses to different colleges. In Hansraj college, fees vary from 18000 to 28000 per annum for different courses. Fees of my course, BSc (H) mathematics is 24115 per annum. If you don't afford this, don't lose your hope. College provides scholarship to 100 students from overall courses in the form of fees relaxation like relaxation in fees from 50% to 100% on the basis of the student's family income. Other than college, some other scholarship of the government of India also going to support you financial like inspire scholarship in which you get 60000 per annum and the national scholarship portal (NSP) in which you get 10000 per annum if you are eligible for the scholarship.
Campus Life
College is not only for studies but also for exploring new things and for your overall development. I'm definitely sure that college life is the best part of everyone's life. After coming to college, you will be appreciated for it. This is the right time to do everything, make decisions on your own and making new friends. Every college of Delhi university organise fest in every year in the month of February and March and it lasts for a month. Every college come up with alumni and celebrities in their fest. Hansraj college also organises an annual fest. The college has a library full of books and has a better facility like having ac, good infrastructure etc. Also college have canteen. Hansraj College provides more than sports to the students and has its own sports campus. For extracurricular activities, college organise lots of seminar. For your overall development, the college has lots of societies like NSS, drama, poetry and much more.
