Remarks

Even though everybody would curse the management for different reasons, having to control such a huge bunch of diverse mix is a big challenge which has to be appreciated.

Entrance Preview

KEAM- Kerala entrance. Was always interested in mechanics of moving and non moving materials. Opted mechanical over automobile since mechanical provides a holistic study of all moving objects.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course was very outdated and far from what the new technology requires. Nevertheless the syllabus provided heavy insights to the deepest of machineries which helps in building a strong foundation of the fundamentals. Some of the electives were advanced mechanics of solids, CAD cam lab, C++, instrumentation.

Internships Opportunities

No, Our college didn't provide any internships to graduating students. There was some internship schemes for the pg students about which am not very clear about.

Placement Experience

3.5

We had a very active placement cell which were coordinated and run by the students majorly. The major companies from all sector IT, automobile, oil, FMCG etc visited our college. Average package offered them would be 6 lakh per annum for a fresher. Some of the companies are: TCS, Wipro, Mahindra and Mahindra, JCB, Nielson, Cargill etc.

College Events

5

Our college celebrates every national festivals vigorously. Apart from festivals like Diwali, Onam, Eid, Christmas, we had union elections and celebrations. Our college had different departments like mechanical, electrical, civil, instrumentation etc who upheld their pride by conducting annual fest with rich themes every year. On top of all these we had inter college fests and open to public cultural programmes organised and coordinated by student union.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Our fee structure was very feasible be it in merit or management quota. For government allotment seats, annual fee would be 6000 INR. Whereas for management merit, it would come upto 35000. And for direct seats, nearly 80000. The academic expense involves an additional expense for hostel and mess which was again subsidised by government. It would add upto 2000 per month.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are many scholarship schemes offered to students. Many of which were organised by the alumni network to the under privileged bunch of students. Some were focused for academic rank holders too. Central government and state government scholarships for both academic and financial ground were also offered.

Campus Life

4.5

Since the seats are allotted purely based on rank in the entrance exams, the gender mix are very much balanced. Student parties are a daily activity because of the huge student strength. To ensure diversity, there are quotas for students from different parts of the country over and above the backward classes. All in all the government has laid out a very well revised structure which more or less covers a balanced diverse mix.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel facilities weren't some state of art facility. It had the signature government infra. But the mess food was so amazing at the very cheapest subsidised prices. Basic amenities like gym and courts were very old school system though it was very much prevalent.

Alumni/Alumna

The feeling of oneness is predominantly visible among-st the alumni network. The network is known under different chapters based on Geo locations. The gulf network of our college is very much app-laudable and has reached ever heights.

Exam Structure

The exams were scheduled in a very orderly manner providing ample time for preparation. Unless you are cursed with back logs which would overlap with your regular exam schedules. The labs were a real pain. First of all the students had to fill the records with all the theory which made no sense. The filing of record with theory and diagrams consumed so much time that the real activity gets very less importance and the significance of readings are diminished.

Admission

I was enrolled for Keam while I was pursuing my +2 studies. The notification process begins by January if I remember right. The exams come in may. The results are out by June and son the allotments to the government colleges based on ranks begin. We get three windows to prioritise our first three choices of college. Over the allotments the board decides which college are we eligible for as per the demand and our rank.

Faculty

3

Faculties are supposed to be the pillars of any educational institutions. Unlike every random colleges, our college had a very rich pool of faculty. The sharing mentality of them varied very widely though mostly owing to the government owned management. Nevertheless most of them were very helpful and abundantly available.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance. The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies. The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.
