Remarks
I got admission through UPSEE-2020 into the Computer Science Branch via the general counselling process. You can get admission both via counselling and also direct admission. In counselling, you need to get at least around 7000 ranks in UPSEE to get admission. If you opt for a direct admission there indeed is a minimum marks requirement which is around 90-91%. After that, you can get into CSE in KIET. The admission process is quite smooth and simple, after the online counselling when you have to do the reporting you just need to bunch a bunch of documents along with the admission fee. All the counselling process gets finished in just one hall and would take almost 1 hour to finish. And then you're a KIETian congrats! :)
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose CS because I have been interested in computers since ever. And the faculty here in computer science is quite great. We have a very talented and highly skilled faculty including Ph.D. holders, Gold medalists, etc. The faculty to student ratio is 1:20. The professors give in-depth knowledge and teaching from the basics at a fundamental level and then slowly raising the bar at the advanced level. The term/internal exams happen around every 1.5 months. The difficulty level though is a little tough but you still can do well if you stick to the basics.
Internships Opportunities
Many internship opportunities are offered from companies like IBM and airtel, also from various startups like OYO and OLA. You get to work with industry experts during the in-college projects as well to get hands-on experience.
Placement Experience
The registration process starts around your 5th or 6th semester. You work along with the dept and placement cell to get internships and also the placement. Various grooming sessions are held to better prepare you for the written rounds and the interview. Over 350 companies come during the placement season including TCS, Airtel, Wipro, Samsung, Capgemini, etc with more than 1600 job offers. The average package is around 4 LPA and the highest going as far as 27 LPA. The placement %age in Computer Science branch is 100%. I am planning to go for higher education after my BTech.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is no fee hike during the four-year tenure except maybe if the examination fee depends on AKTU. The cost of the study is actually relatively low from many such private institutes. There are scholarships provided by the state government for which you can apply. The college helps you in getting education loans as well. Currently, I am in my first year so I haven't got a job yet :P, but my seniors do tell me the internship & placement cell is quite great.
Campus Life
Various technical and cultural fests happen throughout the year with many small events as well. There is not just a college fest but also programs at the national and international levels as well. The library here at KIET is highly equipped with over 1.6 lakh books and many top journals and magazines subscribed. You also get access to their E-Library which is similarly equipped. The classroom is very advanced with AC rooms and other modern facilities and even more. The labs are extremely well even better than some of the NITs and IIITs and I am NOT exaggerating, you know it when you visit. The sports facilities are great as well with a well-equipped gymnasium, full-length cricket, hockey, football and volleyball courts along with tennis and badminton courts. Many sports events also happen. There are many students clubs like INNOGEEKS, Movies Society, Dramatics society, etc which are all well functioning
Hostel Facilities
I have an attached balcony with my room. With a very well-furnished bed and Almira. The rooms are well lutted and comfortable. Rooms in 1st year. There is a common washroom and a lot of attention is given to cleanliness. The food in 1st year is extremely great and nothing like what we hear about hostels. The menu is decided by a student food committee in every hostel. You do the registration while reporting. Both AC and non-AC rooms are available. Though there are many rooms availble but if you apply too late availblity could be an issue in first year. There are many other PGs and private hostels available around the college at very affordable rate as well.
