Remarks

I chose KIET because it has a strong name in the AKTU zone for its good record of placements and tech events. Before joining, I applied to a few other colleges like ABES, RKGIT, and IMS. I got a seat in more than one place, but I felt KIET was better because of the campus feel, labs, and the active clubs which help students grow in coding and projects. The student reviews also played a key role in my choice. Many seniors said that teachers give good support and the campus has a good study vibe. I did not face any rejection from other options, but I felt those colleges had lower placement stats and less active culture. Admission at KIET is simple. It's mostly done through JEE Main rank and the state counselling round. There is also a direct mode if seats are open after the counseling round. You have to fill the form, show your rank proof, and take part in the round. After seat lock, you pay the first fee and submit documents. The cutoffs are pretty strict for the top branches, so you need a good rank. The whole process was smooth, and the staff was very helpful.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course plan at KIET is set by the state tech university; therefore, core subjects follow the same plan used in most tech colleges under AKTU. The first year covers basic topics to set the base in maths, coding, physics, and general tech ideas. Moving from the second year, the plan goes into real subjects linked to the branch. The plus point is that labs and add-on tasks help to gain real usage skills and not just book learning. Also, this plan adds on skill add-on tracks like coding labs, mock talks, and project works which prepare us for jobs or higher study. Still, some of the subjects are old and need a fresh plan as technology is changing very fast. In each term, two mid-term tests and one end-term test take place, and the plan is pretty good. It is not too hard if you study notes on time. The paper has both short and long type questions and real problems. During the third and fourth year, we do project work, and many clubs help in joining hack events and skill tasks. I feel that the plan is good, but more and more real case work and new technology topics such as AI, ML, cloud, and cyber should be added.

Fees and Financial Aid

For KIET B.Tech, my annual fee is ?119,490. This includes tuition, reg fee, lab usage, examination fee, and other fixed college fees. In the first year, there is also a caution fund of ?1,000, which is paid once and is returned after the course. From year two to four, only the reg fee is paid with the annual tuition. The fee remains in this range till now, and no sharp increase has been observed for our batch. Some friends in other categories like SC or ST receive aid from state funds and pay much lesser due to fee reimbursement schemes from the state. A few friends from the free seat quota (TFW) pay near half. No fixed set rate list is circulated for each category, but aid is available based on marks and family funds. KIET also provides aid based on merit. If you achieve the top rank in the class, then you may get some fee refund for the next term. Gold rank in the last term can get full fee back. Sports rank at state or India level also gives a part fee cut. Any aid requires you to apply, showing proof.

Campus Life

4

Campus life at KIET is active and full of events throughout the year. The campus has both cultural and tech fests, which bring great energy. The major fests are Epoque and Enthuse which happen once a year and include contests, shows, games, and stage acts. There are also branch fests and hack events held in many months. Clubs play a big role in student life. Coding clubs, dance and music clubs, media club, and sports teams give space to learn and grow. Students run many of the clubs and they help a lot in boosting skills and confidence. The campus has a large library with a huge range of books and a digital section that has online journals and e-books. Labs are well-built and have the tools needed for project and study work. The classrooms have smart board support and good seating. Sports ground, gym, and indoor game rooms add to the fun part of campus life. The crowd is friendly and we get to meet new people fast. The campus feels safe and clean and there are many spots to sit, talk, or study. All in all, life here has a good balance of study and fun.

Faculty

5

Faculty to Student Ratio at KIET is decent, and we get enough time with teachers in labs and in class. Most teachers are easy to reach and reply fast when we ask doubts after class. We can talk to them in breaks, and many also guide on projects and contests. Some teachers explain in a cool and clear way and relate topics to real life use; hence, classes feel easy to grasp. A few teachers also push us to think deeper rather than just doing the notes, which helps in coding and core subjects. On the flip side, there are a few teachers who stick only to slides and rush the unit without giving space for doubts. Classes with them are dry, and the pace is tough; hence, we have to learn on our own. The exam pattern has two mid-terms and one end-term in each term. The paper is mixed with MCQ and long questions. The level is not too hard if you study from notes and past papers. The pass rate is high, and the drop count is low. The course plan is set by the university, so some parts feel old, but labs and add-on tasks help link things with real tech use.

Night Life

4

The nightlife of KIET is calm and safe. The campus itself closes most public spots by night. By evening, the library is closed, and so are the gym and indoor game hall. Girls' hostel gates are closed by 9:30 PM, boys by 10 PM, and so everyone mostly stays inside by then. Students spend time in the common room inside the hostel, play indoor games, or sit together on the terrace area, chilling after the classes. Raj Nagar Extension is the main place to hang out outside the campus because it has many cafes and eating points. Places most visited include Chai Sutta Bar, Chai Point, Cafes near KW, Domino’s, Burger King, and other food hubs on the main road. Students visit these places mainly in the evening after class. Street food spots near the gate remain open till late, too. The area around KIET is safe with good police patrol and a lot of student crowd, so there is no major issue going out early night. Most students prefer group hangs, long walks, and late study talks. It's not like the

I choose this course because I want to be a software developer. The faculty are very kind and helpful. Almost every faculty member has completed there post-graduation from various established colleges. The examination scheme is a little bit slow here. Students can pass their semester exams if they are paying at least 45 per cent of their concentration.
